One of the individuals chosen to be part of The Look of Style Photo Exhibit is Lifestyle columnist, host of “House Life” on QTV and co-owner of Urban Spa, Tessa Prieto-Valdes.
Her personal style is labeled as Outrageously unique and I dare say that her fashion is well-known for it’s show-stopping attribute, tells us she’s got spunk and was quite clear when she showed up with that vintage head piece and adorned with a pair of falsies that you’d think would only grace beauty editorials and not worn in real life. …

It’s been talked about at the end of the last quarter of 2008 and as expected the Plaid trend had gained a lot of traction beginning of 2009 and over the course of the past months have entered the mainstream. The fashionable public had took it on like how a dog is with a bone.
While I was killing time and waiting for the rain to subside at Starbucks in Santana Grove over the weekend, I spotted a couple of MMA (Multimedia Arts) students from DLSU-CSB at a nearby table sporting …

Filipinos are generally simple; bound by traditions and held back by superstitions (IMO) — perhaps attributed to its religious nature. Anyway, noting our National Costumes: the Baro’t Saya and the Barong, these pieces somewhat says it all. Though it offers formality, one can’t deny that they still lack the sophistication of a cocktail dress and the sleekness of a suit, respectively. But that’s how our country’s fashion was founded — in simplicity and modesty.
That’s probably why a lot of Philippine fashion designers excel in gowns, I’m guessing it’s an extreme …

Admitting that going maxi is all the rage right now (echoes really, but who cares?) but the idea of wearing maxi dresses to work may be a bit of a stretch so let’s trim the length down a bit (or should I say up?) and go for ones that fall below the knee or ones that reach down to the mid-calf. This style idea covers both dresses and skirts. It manages to pull off the same drama and sophistication without sacrificing your professional look.

It’s that time of the year again when young people prep themselves as the new school year starts. Some will proceed as scheduled but the others had theirs postponed to a later date due to needed precautions for the A(H1N1).
Also, the past week had given us a taste of the wet season. Yes. Undoubtedly, the rainy days have finally arrived. Time to cover up a bit. Arm ourselves with jackets, umbrellas, rainboots, etc. Which had me wondering, don’t you think that sporting hoodies would give your outfit a practical but …

Sometimes, the reason why I’m not all too excited about checking out collections from local designers is, it can be expected that I’ll just be seeing gowns with elaborate and intricate designs, accents and embellishments. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I find them bland or poorly made, in fact, it’s the opposite. Most works are enchanting and wonderful. It’s something to be admired and be proud of.
However, Philippine fashion isn’t all about cocktail parties, heck, folks in Manila hardly dress formal. Gowns are saved for debutantes, brides, Reyna …

Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of seeing the PROMOD French Street Style for Spring-Summer 2009 in full motion via a Fashion Show held at the Fashion Walk in Greenbelt 5, Makati City.
With adrenaline pulsing through my veins, a common reaction whenever I watch fashion on the catwalk, I went and claimed my seat and proceeded taking snaps of what’s left of the show. I arrived late you see (darn coding, heh). I’m delightfully surprised that a seat was reserved for me, which enabled me to take snaps of the …

City of love and romance, Paris. Paris Fashion Week. Cafes, books, and cigarettes. Cabaret and the Moulin Rouge. Escargo, River Sienne, Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triomph and the beautiful French language, words uttered quietly and casually, with an air of nonchalance. The place where the bohemian lifestyle thrives, which I reckon reflects on their style preferences — the “je ne se quoi” quality.
French fashion have always been a thrill to explore. Expressions of elegance and hip differs from other European counterparts like London and Milan. I’m guessing …

I just have to say this (again), the clip’s awesome! Love the concept. Love the cinematography. I even love the hair! Of course, how can I possibly miss it, I love the gown! I absolutely hearted the rosette appliques and the fluid skirt. Very romantic.
Personally, I think fashion designers should look into doing this sort of thing for their collections. It gives us a better idea of how their creations will look like when worn in real life. You can admire how details, cuts and drapes highlight frame, length and …

Punk. What do you normally associate, fashion-wise at least, with the word? Apart from the music, all I can think of was black, skaterboi-ish-slash-Boy George get up. Affirmed by quite a number of outfits seen during the event, my definition is far from off. But I’m more of the rock chick than an Avril-wannabe, and this was one of the topics that my friend Hannah and I talked about. How do you categorise a particular outfit as punk anyway?
I really can’t set any boundaries for now. I have this faint …
