Style Manila on its 3rd Year

2010 is starting out to be one heck of a busy year. I meant to do this last December but I had no time to organise it, not to mention, no time to see it through. What am I talking about? Well, I wanted to give away some stuff to celebrate Christmas, my birthday and Style Manila’s 3rd year anniversary. Yes, this blog turned 3 early this month!

So what exactly am I giving away? Let’s start with a few beauty loot bags which will contain the following:
Loot #1
AVON’s Jet Femme …

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural in Medium

This was actually my first stop during that fated Tuesday shopping spree (see Shoe binge post). I’ve been putting my trip to a MAC counter for so long that when I did find myself in Glorietta, I just knew I’m not going to deny my need any longer.
I was in the market for a face powder and I’m curious if MAC had anything good for me to try. Of course, I know that MAC is a trusted cosmetics brand but the question on whether it will suit me (in terms …

Work Wear: In T-Shirt and Jeans

A few posts ago, when I mentioned that the office dress code (where I work) is quite accommodating, what I actually meant was that I can actually come in a simple t-shirt and jeans combo.
For the sake of argument, this particular outfit is not your typical t-shirt and jeans look — note that I even took on a Levi’s white and blue colour palette, which was popularized by that old TVC — but, technically, it simply is what it is (a t-shirt and jeans outfit). IMHO, it’s all a matter …

Olay Total Effects Swap Event 2009

Fantastic opportunity to switch! I only found out about this OLAY Total Effects beauty event yesterday and I reckon it’d be great to share with you folks, just in case you missed it as well. The first round of swap is already over but good news is there are two more swap dates. One is going to be held in the South (Alabang Town Center) and the other, North (Robinsons Galleria).
But to make it clear, here’s how it’s going to work:

Olay Total Effects Swap Mechanics
1. The Olay Total Effects Swap …

The One-Two Skincare Combo

If we talk about skincare, I’d often turn and put importance to the essentials. Cleansing is a vital part of taking care of one’s skin. Then I’d move on to moisture balance and exfoliation. The latter is important since in order to maintain the skin’s smoothness and elasticity, we have to regularly hydrate. As for the latter, it’s maintaining a healthy layer of skin to achieve suppleness and, yes, smoothness.
This brings us to the basic one-two skincare combo I currently use: The Cream Cleanser and Regenerating Serum, both under …

First Impressions: OLAY White Radiance Night Whitening Cream

One of the best marketing strategies that worked really well for the Philippine market is to say that a product will help you achieve a fairer and whiter skin, coupled with a mestiza looking (or worse, someone who already is a fair-skinned individual) endorser. What can I say, a lot of Filipinos (mostly women) still believe that having a fair skin automatically makes them prettier. Sad but true.
I have to admit I fell victim to such things when I was younger. I remember pestering my mum to buy me whitening …

First Impressions: OLAY Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Cream

Women are more aware and conscious about their skin nowadays that we are all trying to perfect our skincare regimen. Which of the products out there will provide value for money? Which ones will be effective? Will these products truly minimise lines, refine pores, provide anti-oxidants, or nourish, tone, lift, and exfoliate the skin? Sometimes, it’s too frustrating to choose among the ones currently in the market. I reckon that’s why some of you ladies do resort to reading and research before buying a bottle, pot, or tube, eh?
Since it …

Sunday, Another Errand Day

It’s all part of growing up. Responsibilities multiply and would either nag you into irritation or push you to be a better person. No matter how much stomping you do, they simply won’t go away. Best to accept and deal with them accordingly. Our portions are as it should be. It’s all a matter of patience and good time management.
Waking up at 3am wasn’t part of the plan and had laboured to go back to sleep but was unsuccessful. I dragged my arse off my bed and decided to …

The Thin and Short of It

For folks who helped me make up my mind via Plurk, here’s a look at the short and thin black number I ended up wearing. Yes, it’s short enough since it rides up a good 6 inches above the knee and thin enough to tempt you not to wear anything underneath for fear of knicker lines ruining it. Thoughts?
I was facing back-to-back events that night and just thinking about it was already stressful. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to dressing up and putting makeup on. I knew I’ll be …

Baguio Report, Sasha Says Howdy

Yes, howdy folks! LOL.
One of the things I remember about my visits to Baguio when I was little was going horseback riding in Wright Park so can you guess what this particular tourist did? Er, duh. I went horseback riding!
Growing up, I’ve had this fascination with horses and had dreams of owning one (out of my budget, of course). And the last time I was on a horse, I reckon I was around 8 years old. So when I found myself in Wright Park, I just couldn’t let the …
