Friends are like family.

In our case, we sorta’ are. Family, I mean. Friends are priceless. Best to treasure the ones you meet however late in life but prove to be folks of kindred spirits and can be considered family. These individuals will be your support; will be there to rally you to become a better person, to chase your dreams. And how can I forget the role that friends play in times of heartbreak and loss? Lifting a quote from the Jane Austen book, Northanger Abbey, which I’m currently reading,“Friendship is certainly the …

There’s Something About.. Marie

Knowing very well that I can always check out the Mango stores in Manila, there was something about seeing that huge OUTLET pasted on the glass windows of this particular Mango store in Robinson’s Starmills that caused my brain to guide my feet to take the rest of me towards the entrance and, eventually, inside the store.
Did I mention that I’m a huge fan of the brand? Since they first opened a store in Makati; during the time when my allowance nor first paycheck couldn’t afford a single item found …

Work Wear: Waistcoats and High-Waists

Wearing waistcoats can be a daunting thing. It can either make you look avant-garde or too much of a fashion victim. It’s only natural that we’d prefer the former than the latter, yes? I reckon it’s all a matter of finding the right sort of waistcoat, first of all, then working it in your own personal style. It can be painful at first but when you do meet the perfect match in a waistcoat, you’ll enjoy wearing these adorable things.
Take for example this one that I delightfully spotted in Mojoola/Mogao …

Her Personal Stylist-slash-Shopper

Having had the opportunity to work with a stylist myself, I totally understand the merits and the convenience of having a fresh eye on clothes around while out shopping. So, when my friends and I scheduled this trip to Robinson’s Starmills over the weekend and my friend Penny asked me to act as her personal stylist as we shopped, without hesitation, I readily agreed. I knew it’s going to be an exciting and fun little project. We were going to work with a Php 2,000.00 budget and we targeted to …

Northern Trek: Robinson’s Starmills, Pampanga

My sister can attest to my affinity with outlet shopping (I heart Harbour Town in Australia!) and this recent trip to a shopping mall located outside Manila (northern part of Luzon) seals it. I still can’t believe that my friends and I went out of our way to especially go to Robinson’s Starmills in Pampanga. Call us crazed shoppers out to bargain hunt! Twas definitely one helluva roadtrip we took last Saturday.
We were all looking forward to great fashion finds at fabulously friendly priced deals esp after having read …

Bring on the Rainy Days

The past couple of days have been rainy and spent in one of my least favourite places — the hospital. I hate the smell and the constant reminder of our mortality, frail and fleeting. Walking along United Nations Avenue brought back memories of the days wherein I had frequented streets like it back when I was in Uni. Dark and damp, I had looked on pedicabs and street vendors plus countless cars and jeeps that you’d be pushed to think Manila never sleeps.

My mum had advised that I stay in …

If Only It Didn’t Rain

I would’ve walked out of the house in this outfit. But it did. So I didn’t. Oh, it would’ve been a great joy to start out my work week as I’ve originally planned! Ah, well. Fate had something else in mind, I reckon.
The rain certainly can spoil plans, regardless of how shallow those plans may be. LOL.

Over the weekend, I had friends over my place to ransack my aparador, English translation: wardrobe, cabinet or closet, and tukador, English translation: dresser or vanity table. I just had to include those …

The Bomber Jacket That Took Me 5 Years to Buy

It was the year 2005 when I had wished for one. I remember having walked into one of the trendy boutiques down in Rundle Mall (Adelaide, Australia) then spotted a hooded bomber jacket, gorgeous and all, but twas priced way over my budget. Dejected, I settled for a pair of cargo pants and a few accessories before heading out. I guess my wardrobe simply wasn’t prepared to accommodate such a fab piece of clothing just yet.
It took five years to get ready. Twas on a Sunday. Tired and with shoulders …

Conquering Pinatubo With Style

One of the the more pressing concerns when the idea of “roughing it” was raised was, do I have a pair of shoes I can use that can withstand the rough trek up Mt Pinatubo? Dear me. You can liken shoes for me to water for a hiker, and this is not simply for vanity’s sake. Wearing the right sort of footwear for trips like these will prove to be vital in the caring of your beloved feet (my sore feet concurs). Good thing, I still have my trusty pair …

At Manila Yacht Club, Anne Morata

As I was headed towards Manila that late Sunday afternoon, my head was filled with hope that it was a great opportunity for me to get out of this fashion blogging slump that I’ve managed to find myself in. It’s been a while since I last took a photo for street fashion so I was gearing myself up to mix a bit of work in on my personal time. I’ve been guilty of working on a few other things over the weekend anyway so as I walk the planks that …
