Novel Variety in Fashion Accessories

Accessories will always make the task of dressing up fun. Pushing a simple outfit to take on a different feel would often require the careful choice of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. These elements can either make or break an outfit. Too much will mess things up, rather than pulling a crisp, polished style, one ends up with a cluttered fashion road kill. It’s quite understandable that most go with the trends, however, it’s better to establish a style foundation so that shopping trips won’t seem like impractical indulgences. A common …

Everyday Bag, A Working Girl’s Bestfriend

As I previously mentioned when I shared with folks the story about the birthday bag that came too late, I’ve been using more of the everyday bag sort for work. Reasons are varied and many but core are space, durability, space, style flexibility and, yes, space.
I like them structured (most of the time) and big; enough to carry an army of notebooks, gadgets, everything but the kitchen sink. Space is important to me.
Let me introduce you to the one I bought online (made reservations online, technically) but personally picked the …

Bangles and Chains

December has always been the busiest month for me. I know it’s been a good couple of weeks since you folks heard from me but I’m now back with a few updates.
If you’ve been keeping tabs via Style Manila’s twitter (plus the PILL post), you know that I’ve been to the Bazaar held at the St. James the Great in Ayala Alabang a few weeks ago. Naturally, I did a bit of shopping and one of the things on the agenda was a major accessory haulage. I needed to …

In a Cotton and Angora PROMOD Dress

Don’t you find it odd, sometimes, that you would go through a lot of things in prepping for a single event which will only last a good couple of hours or so? Energy and time spent picking out the perfect outfit, bag and accessories then planning on how you’re going to do your hair and makeup. Wasted time? Depends on the person really. And, at least, it was fun.
I wanted to wear something special to one of the events from the Inquirer Lifestyle + Nokia Lifestyle Series, The Look of …

Working with a Stylist Plus Necklace Love

Earlier, I had dropped by the PROMOD store at Greenbelt 5 to pick up the outfit I’ll be wearing for tomorrow night’s event. Plans were a bit last minute but I’m glad things worked out. Initially, I thought I was all on my own but having to work through an approximately 100sq m of store space filled with tonnes of fabulous options, not to mention that I’m already pressed for time, a little help was greatly appreciated.
Enters PROMOD’s in-house stylist, Carla Abdon.

It’s my first time to work with a stylist, …

Style Fetish: What’s Yours?

Hats. There’s something about them that enamoured me from the start. From baseball caps to colourful straw hats. I remember visiting Baguio, insisted that my mum buy me a bowler hat that I spotted in one of the flea markets in Minesview Park. Another is when we went to Hundred Islands and brought home that wide and wavy brimmed straw hat.
Had I kept all these hats that I had bought since I was young, I would’ve set myself up with a pretty decent hat collection. But we all know how …

The All-In-One Accessory

If there’s an accessory that I was really looking to buy whilst in Australia, it’s this one. I’m not saying that one can’t find something like this in Manila. I guess I haven’t been fortunate whenever I’m out shopping.
From experience, I knew it won’t be a problem when I set foot in Australia. People love to accessorise in this place. All you need is a bit of patience, a great pair of legs for walking, and money, of course! Armed with all these, you can be sure that you’ll …

The Cutest Thing on Your Hair

You can either thank or hate Blair Waldorf for making headbands the current rage, however, we all know that wearing headbands is not a crime. There’s nothing wrong with it, really.
Though I never took into liking the wide and bowed headbands, I certainly was smitten with these babies. Braided (faux-leather) headbands. No frames, just an elastic band that holds the thin braid together at the bottom.
I found these over at DIVA Accessories over at Rundle Mall on my last day in Australia. It costs more than any of the …

What my Secret Santa gave me

One of the things that greeted me in my mailbox (the real one, mind you) is a package from my Secret Santa, who turned out to be Lynn Stevens. At the time the package arrived, I was still in Australia. Lynn actually was kind enough to send me an email to inform me that she sent the gift to my Philippine mailing address. She was concerned that with the current setup, it missed my getting it for the holidays whereas I was more concerned with the package reaching my mailbox! …
