Two December Dresses

This post is one of the many late feature posts I’ve got lined up. I can’t believe we’re halfway through 2010 and I’m still writing about dated things. Believe me, I wanted to leave these things un-featured but having come across a few photos of these dresses caused me to stop and re-think that decision. They’ve become a couple of my favourite dresses so I know I had to share them with you folks.
First up is this adorable dress I bought on sale. Found in Promod’s “Nice Price” rack, a …

The Little Green Dress

The backdrop barely serves well in masking certain details about my work life but who cares, yes? It’ll be our little secret. Hehe.
Anyway, I finally got to air out this adorable dress I nicked from my mum’s box of fashion goodies she brought home from her last trip to the US. Nicked it since, yes ladies, it’s one of the fashion items she’s currently selling.

I was immediately drawn to the beaded embellishments that are NOT sewn to the fabric and the silver chain strap PLUS the fact that …

In My Birthday Suit

Although customary, a feature would’ve been in line after the dress is finished and not while it’s still in the creation process. However, in my excitement with how things turning out, let me give you folks a quick look at the dress I had let Kaye Olfindo design for me.
I love having clothes esp made for me. I probably got this from my mum who, as I was growing up, would have most of her clothes made by a local modista or seamstress/dressmaker. Of course, I got a taste of …

Cord Trousers and a Tunic Plus Something Extra

As mentioned in my previous post, I’m here to report my latest purchases from Promod. After the fastest recorded time I’ve ever shopped (under an hour!) to date, I’ve managed to bag two (2) pieces plus a little something extra from one store and don’t forget that I did shop at Warehouse right before that.
One is a Cropped Cord Trouser.

Aside from the cord material, I’m loving the little details that make up the entire thing. From pockets, front and back, to belt catchers. It also has the casual turn …

It’s How You WARE It

Move over Topshop. A new favourite’s in town. Situated in one of the newest malls (Greenbelt 5!) to hit the urban jungle of Makati is a gem of a fashion store called Warehouse. Have you folks checked it out? Well, I did. Last night — between Bebo and a Facebook Page also after finishing a Jamaican Cheesy Beef Patty in a mad-rush — I stepped through its doors the second time in a work week but like what they always say, second time’s a charm. I didn’t leave the store …

In a Cotton and Angora PROMOD Dress

Don’t you find it odd, sometimes, that you would go through a lot of things in prepping for a single event which will only last a good couple of hours or so? Energy and time spent picking out the perfect outfit, bag and accessories then planning on how you’re going to do your hair and makeup. Wasted time? Depends on the person really. And, at least, it was fun.
I wanted to wear something special to one of the events from the Inquirer Lifestyle + Nokia Lifestyle Series, The Look of …

Baguio Report, Ukay Shopping!

One of the things that I was looking forward to doing once I step foot on Baguio soil was to hit the ukay-ukay district. I can still remember the first time I got a taste of this shopping experience on my last trip to the place which was back in 2004.
Twas when I was able to buy a heavy jacket with fur trimmings along the cuffs and detachable hood for Php 500.00 (originally priced at Php 800.00). A bit expensive for something bought in an ukay-ukay shop, I know. …

Style Manila on QTV 11’s QTube

Me? On TV? Seriously.
Not that I minded the major plugging for my blogs (SashaManuel.com, The Parody, and Tops II Bottoms) and mainly for Style Manila, so, yea I grabbed the opportunity. This is one of the interviews I did with QTV. Shot entirely in my home whilst by principle I didn’t really want to do. But yea, there. You folks can see how my room looks like and the family den where I usually work.
Aired last night — Thursday, 16 April 2009 — on GMA Network’s QTV 11 new …

Ukay-Ukay Shopping at The Ukay Manila Store

If the US has the Salvation Army and goodwill stores for recessionistas to thrift shop, our own local version is fondly called ukay-ukay shopping. Recession or not, this has been a known practice for those fashionistas on the prowl for individuality, love for vintage and all-around style kick unique to fashion finds in such stores. It just doesn’t hurt that you end up saving a buck or two.
Most are enamoured to ukay-ukay shopping, seeing that it does offer unique fashion treasures at an incredibly low price; making a single trip …

The Modern Filipina

Who is the modern Filipina?
With all the changes happening all around and having observed how the culture evolved for the past two (2) decades, I can’t help but ask the question. How do you define such a woman?
We have to admit that we come from a society filled with rules (not to mention, superstitions). Most of us grew up with strict and conservative parents, surrounded by meddling extended families (who often think that their opinions should be taken into serious consideration). Our actions measured and, oftentimes, directed by traditions and …
