First Article for Best Life Australia

As most of you who have been around Style Manila for, at least, the past couple of months know, I went to spend the holidays in the land down under. I was originally scheduled to stay until March, however, due to unforeseen events, my trip was unfortunately cut short. In light of this, I had immersed myself in a splurge that shocked even the manic shopper in me.
However, something useful came out of my, otherwise, foolish endeavour of spending wads and wads of money in 6 weeks — my …

Satin Ruffled Halter Top by Carolina K. Morgan

I was hoping to save this post till I get around to taking a style photo but it seems that I better get it out of the way and save the other one for later.
This is one of the last things I bought in Australia. It’s a cream satin ruffled halter top by Carolina K. Morgan, found in one of the boutiques (totally forgot what it’s called) along the stretch of Rundle Mall. I have to admit that I wanted to buy it as soon as I saw it but …

The Little Fashionista

She loves shopping (yes, she knows how! I was amazed when I saw her in action!). She loves clothes. She loves her shoes. She chooses what she wants to wear for the day. She loves dressing up! She loves having her hair styled. She knows how to compliment her mum (and even her tita — me!) by saying “Pretty!”. She’s barely 2 years old, mind you! Yes, we’ve got a little fashionista in the family.
Meet H and she’s my niece.
We went to the beach that day and had fish …

Style Fetish: What’s Yours?

Hats. There’s something about them that enamoured me from the start. From baseball caps to colourful straw hats. I remember visiting Baguio, insisted that my mum buy me a bowler hat that I spotted in one of the flea markets in Minesview Park. Another is when we went to Hundred Islands and brought home that wide and wavy brimmed straw hat.
Had I kept all these hats that I had bought since I was young, I would’ve set myself up with a pretty decent hat collection. But we all know how …

The All-In-One Accessory

If there’s an accessory that I was really looking to buy whilst in Australia, it’s this one. I’m not saying that one can’t find something like this in Manila. I guess I haven’t been fortunate whenever I’m out shopping.
From experience, I knew it won’t be a problem when I set foot in Australia. People love to accessorise in this place. All you need is a bit of patience, a great pair of legs for walking, and money, of course! Armed with all these, you can be sure that you’ll …

The Cutest Thing on Your Hair

You can either thank or hate Blair Waldorf for making headbands the current rage, however, we all know that wearing headbands is not a crime. There’s nothing wrong with it, really.
Though I never took into liking the wide and bowed headbands, I certainly was smitten with these babies. Braided (faux-leather) headbands. No frames, just an elastic band that holds the thin braid together at the bottom.
I found these over at DIVA Accessories over at Rundle Mall on my last day in Australia. It costs more than any of the …

Style Manila at the Adelaide Meet-Up 2009

Last Friday, 23 January 2009, I was fortunate enough to have been able to attend the first meeting of the Adelaide Bloggers and Social Web Media for the year at Caffe Primo - Norwood. It’s the first-ever meet-up that’s sponsored, too!
My sister, Shai Coggins, had organised this get together and I thought I could help out. It was a great thing that I had met Ara Ohanessian (through a friend), owner of Caffe Primo - Norwood, earlier that week. Folks ended up enjoying free house wine and softdrinks plus 50% …

Waiting for the Train

Just missed the 5:20pm train so I ended up with half an hour of wait time for the next one. I was on my way to the city where my ride is. We were heading to Norwood to meet some people over at a cafe (turned out to be Caffe Primo - Norwood) on The Parade.
Since I opted for a the Miss Co Shoulder Bag that day, I wasn’t able to bring anything with me to entertain save my camera so I thought, might as well indulge in …

Beauty Shopping in Australia and Singapore

Sadly, having been too consumed with shopping for clothes and shoes, my desire to go beauty shopping waned. Sure, I did find myself going in and out of numerous beauty stores and counters but I’d often walk away with empty hands.
One of the reasons is that I’ve been bombarded with Skincare stuff that my taste palette had gone dull and immune to the allure of anything beauty. I have to admit I was more interested in hair products, lotions, and other beauty tools. Most of them I haven’t seen in …
