For an upcoming series, I’m looking into getting in touch with local Indie fashion designers.
Are you one of them?
If you design and make clothes, bags, accessories or anything relating to fashion and style, then, yes, you’re one of them. Stating the obvious, Indie is short for independent. It means you’re mostly operating “under the radar” and only have viral marketing to your advantage. You may or may not have established a brand but still manage to put up shop virtually or physically so the rest of us can enjoy your …

It can be a little cliche-ish but what the heck, eh? Plaids are one of the trends that’s making a comeback (at least for the Western Fall season). It’s a bit preppy but it’s pretty nonetheless.
I’ve never bought an item from Maldita, though, I do find their selection sleek and, sometimes, bordering on the cosmopolitan work wear sort but there are notable items that’s easy to style into a more casual urban outfit. For the relatively younger fashionistas (note: ones still in school!), if minis are acceptable then by all …

When Aileen asked me a styling question via Plurk a while back, it had lingered till I can’t stand it anymore that I knew I had to write this post. She had asked for styling tips for teachers.
We all may remember our teachers for their wit and charm but never by their fashion sense unless it was totally off. For ones that fail to stick, well, it goes to show just how much effect they had. But, hey, I’d like to remember my profs fondly (ones that I do remember, …

It screams “Menswear” but I just had to laugh when I came across this shirt cuz it’s so applicable to me in so many ways. LMAO.
Interestingly enough, I would never have expected that I’ll be extending a fabulous hat tip to The Technographist for this tshirt find and a nifty shopping advice to boot.
Pictured is our favorite design, a clever play on RSS feeds (you can subscribe to Technograph’s RSS feed here by the way). These t-shirts are great gifts for geeks, bloggers, web developers, and those involved in …

When I stumbled upon this site, I can’t help but remember the requests made by guys who stopped by Style Manila. They were asking where they can find options for t-shirts and such that are unique to our country, Philippine-made.
I’ve already featured some and I hope to find more. To add onto the list is S^CRED Clothesline.
Like the two items seen on the image above, they design tees and hoodies that are inspired by the unofficial national sport, Basketball. On the left is the Jaworksi Tee, on print it says …

I was truly impressed with her talent! Having been in the craft of jewelry-making for over five years — self-taught no less — gives her enough time to test, stretch and perfect her skill, nay, talent! I’m really surprised that she’s only 23 years old!
Pia Faustino invests her time and effort to fulfilling a client’s wish. And as far as I’ve seen, from the product photos, the jewelry are exquisitely done with form, design and materials in mind. Pia works mostly with wires, incorporating different global influences that her wandering …

Who ever said that fashion can’t make political statements? Classic example is a twist given by My Fruit on the slogan ‘Make Love Not War’ then printed it on a t shirt. Why wouldn’t this idea sell here in our country? It’s brilliant, IMHO. We are a t-shirt country after all. I like how they even styled the shirt in some of the photos. They’re re-introducing the punk 80s look with their styling ideas.
How do you get the look?
Choose a shirt a couple of sizes bigger than yours.
Wear it …

This has been in my file for a while now and I’ve been meaning to blog about it but you’ll hear the same old excuse from me, other more interesting things came up and, yea, work.
What am I talking about? Well, it’s Kamiseta’s Virtual Closet.
Though, it’s fun to mix and match tops, bottoms, bags and flip-flops, the options are limited. Not that I expected more from their line. I do have to admit that they’ve managed to capture a certain demographic and have other local brands mimicking their marketing and …

Bona Coffee is a great café located in BF Homes, Parañaque. They serve the infamous 20° Below Hot Chocolate and throw in some homemade cookies and muffins, in a quaint, cosy shop and Al Fresco. It fully supports the bohemian culture as it encourages you to hang out as long as you want, baristas are articulate and friendly, PLUS there’s free WiFi. It’s certainly a place I can easily curl up on a couch in a corner, read Gaardner and write in my Moleskine.
What’s so special about a shirt from …

Style Manila was at yesterday’s Black Fashion Show at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati. It’s in celebration of Clear’s launch. As much as I think that it’s highly fabricated that stylists would claim black items occupy the far back of their closets just because of dandruff, I’m sure it’s just part of the drama, which the event called for. So, I’d rather drop this silly thought and focus on the fashion show instead.
As expected, the star of the show are black ensembles from ready-to-wear to haute couture. The show …
