Style Manila on its 3rd Year

2010 is starting out to be one heck of a busy year. I meant to do this last December but I had no time to organise it, not to mention, no time to see it through. What am I talking about? Well, I wanted to give away some stuff to celebrate Christmas, my birthday and Style Manila’s 3rd year anniversary. Yes, this blog turned 3 early this month!

So what exactly am I giving away? Let’s start with a few beauty loot bags which will contain the following:
Loot #1
AVON’s Jet Femme …

The Little Green Dress

The backdrop barely serves well in masking certain details about my work life but who cares, yes? It’ll be our little secret. Hehe.
Anyway, I finally got to air out this adorable dress I nicked from my mum’s box of fashion goodies she brought home from her last trip to the US. Nicked it since, yes ladies, it’s one of the fashion items she’s currently selling.

I was immediately drawn to the beaded embellishments that are NOT sewn to the fabric and the silver chain strap PLUS the fact that …

Mineral Makeup Pick: Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation

After having used The Body Shop’s Nature’s Minerals Mineral Foundation between Q2 and mid-Q4 of 2009, I felt that I liked the idea that my everyday foundation is a mineral foundation. Since I’m still quite new to the whole mineral makeup thing (started late 2007), I’m still in the market in search for the perfect fit.
When my friend M found out that I was currently looking to buy, she suggested I try something from Mary Kay. I’ve known the brand since 1999 but I’ve never tried any of their products. …

A Dose of PILL

Local-made. Marikina, to be exact. Yes, folks. I’ve managed to stumble upon a seller of Marikina-made shoes over at the Christmas Carnivale Bazaar held at Ayala Alabang, which I went to last Saturday. This ought to be good news for those of you who are looking to buy pairs made from Marikina.
PILL. Proudly Philippine-made.

When I asked the sales person regarding the designs. I was informed that the owners of Pill are behind it. Personal thoughts on the current selection (or the ones available at the bazaar), most are influenced by …

The Big Outlet Sale Goes to SMX!

A new venue calls for a new pet name for TBOS — The Big Holiday Outlet Sale. For the regulars, y’all know they usually hold it over at MEGATENT in Ortigas, yes? But I guess it’s time for a little change to celebrate the holiday season. This is great news for all the Southern folk. The MOA area is a little bit more feasible me thinks.

I’ve done so many shout outs for TBOS (ever since they first had one, I think) that I’m sure most of the regular Style Manila …

In My Birthday Suit

Although customary, a feature would’ve been in line after the dress is finished and not while it’s still in the creation process. However, in my excitement with how things turning out, let me give you folks a quick look at the dress I had let Kaye Olfindo design for me.
I love having clothes esp made for me. I probably got this from my mum who, as I was growing up, would have most of her clothes made by a local modista or seamstress/dressmaker. Of course, I got a taste of …

Nestle Fitnesse Show Off Your Shape Launch

Last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to have been able to go to witness the launch of the Nestle Fitness Show Off Your Shape Promo. Why fortunate? Apart from hearing things first hand from folks behind Nestle Fitnesse, I got to see the wardrobe that’s up for grabs in person. Hehe.
This launch event was my first stop of three scheduled thingamajigs for the day. It was a great way to start my day — makes up for the fact that I’m actually working on a weekend, gah — since I …

Dissecting the Ultimate Designer Wardrobe

As promised in a previous post, we’re here to talk about the Designer Wardrobe which can be won in NESTLÉ FITNESSE’s Show off Your Shape promo.
I have to admit I had stared longingly at the pieces that form the Ultimate Wardrobe. In case you missed it, the wardrobe includes following pieces from local fashion designers and global designer brands: Rhett Eala, Religioso, Michi Calica, Kate Torralba, Jun Escario, Hermes, Chanel, and 7 for All Mankind. Personal favourites are the dresses from Kate Torralba and Chanel. Whoever wins this set should …

In UNO This Month

For the past week, I’ve been throwing some teasers to friends and online contacts about being in a local guy mag.

When I mentioned that I’m in its October 2009 issue, the statement definitely raised some eyebrows and garnered surprised looks on each of their faces. Rightly so cuz if you’ve seen me even just in photos, I certainly don’t have the make which would qualify to be on even a quarter of a page. But just to make things clear, there were no semi-nekkid photos in this feature. Fortunately. …

We Wish You Wellness This Christmas

With the constant barrage of stress-inducing situations, from calamities to career-adjustments, finding ways to de-stress can be likened to finding a needle in the haystack.
Though spending a day out of town can be a great idea but with present weather conditions, it can be impractical. Hanging out with friends is a mighty fine thing to do but do you have the time and/or energy for it? Schedule a spa weekend alone or with friends sounds divine but you do have to consider if this would fit in your budget. …
