Seemingly surfacing in an air chamber of a sempiternal synthetic cave, I found myself warming the slick white couch at Club Haze on a rainy Saturday night — still partial to darkness and positively coaxed by the promise of hip-hop.
It was one of them Adidas Originals parties, after all.
The idea of refusing the invite was simply ridiculous.
Hotdamnnnn. NixDamnP. ‘Nuff said.
Walking up to the club, you’d immediately figure out that there’s an Adidas party. This is one event that you’d WANT to wear anything Adidas, from apparel to accessories and, of course, the kicks. THE KICKS. It’s the only time I can say that it’s cool to wear the brand to the brand’s event. Yes, I do! Any Adidas fan will agree with me, haha.
So yea, you’d be able to tell apart the folks who attended the event that dressed up for the event from, well, the Adidas fans. Oh yea, and the hip-hop crowd. Hrhr. Think casual, street, kicks. Man, if you know what you’re getting yourself into, you’d know to save the stilts and cosmo-chic look for a different occasion. For a better idea, reference the designers they’ve collaborated with: Stella McCartney and Jeremy Scott for starters.
/cue in a half-arsed outfit photo
I had prayed to the weather gods to cooperate with my outfit plans that night. Ha, you can find me at the shallow end of the pool, haha. But yea, they heard me. Fantastic! For someone “born and bred” here in Manila (laughing as I recall someone asking me about that), my system’s seemingly wired for a cooler climate and what completes the dilemma was the cropped lace-up sleeve bomber jacket by Jeremy Scott for Adidas that I was dying to wear, haha. It needed airtime, being cooped up for over a year, and this was the PERFECT opportunity, YES? Yes.
A little bit of rain was enough excuse to endure a fragment of discomfort from humidity. You’ll soon notice in the photos that I eventually gave up (even when I was in a room with functioning a/c) as the night wore on, haha.
Grateful that friends were free to keep me company (so to speak, haha). Thanks, Han!
And glad you were able to come, Eena! xo
(L-R) the lovely dancing queen Julia Clarete, the effervescent Eena Acuna, her luminousness Aileen Breen, and the cool that heated up the Thai (WHUT) Hannah Maypa
Errbody all in. Say hello to the party of ladies (plus a company of men) I got to hang out with (one way or the other) that night — you rock, love, you rock xo
Let’s all swap stories, haha.
It was a real shame the club didn’t keep to the theme of the event. All the awesome hip-hop — GONE. Killed the music high. It would’ve been a whole lot more logical, not to mention forgivable, to have my arse peeled off of the dance floor because of the beats. Just the beats. Skulling someone else’ champagne was a source of comfort, haha.
Anyway, it made sense why the crowd thinned as soon as the event was over.
The words, “Derrick Rose is in the house” echo faintly in my memory. Rumors are true. He was there, haha. Photos? Better ask his security, haha. Yea, it’s all part of the #DRoseTour.
Because I’m still hung up on the music, I can’t help but share this. It’s a year-old #nixtape but hey, this ought to give you an idea on what you can expect if you find yourself in good fortune to be at a party with music courtesy of Nix Damn P. /wink
Btw, wait for 33:36. BOOM.
More parties with this kind of music please?
p.s. Some photos were picnapped from Eena. Thanks, Han for taking most of the photos, haha! Will upload the rest on FB (in case friends are interested).
