Nothing wrong with being ordinary. Or wearing old things, for that matter. These present opportunities for the wheels of our imagination to turn. They can fuel an activity geared towards creativity.
Take any normal day, for instance. You know you’ll wake up to a set of activities, thinking them common and, quite possibly, dull — “the usual.” But, alternatively, you just might wake up to a day sitting at the edge of something grand, something extraordinary. All you need to do is act on it. Yes, you read it right. I wrote, “act on it,” a statement pregnant with verbs and imperative notes. Who cares if the weather refuses to cooperate?
Forecast: Shades of Grey with a chance of Brown and Gold
‘Twas a day of unusual pairing that precipitated a delightful surprise for an outfit. Grey’s typically thought of as a dull hue but an idea to pair it with unpopular choices of Brown and Gold created a not-so-typical combination. I’d often match it with Black. Yea, that’s me with my safety lock on.
Bear in mind that I’m currently styling out of a suitcase, i.e. limited wardrobe choices, so it’s quite amazing that I’ve managed to pull this off (can’t you tell I’m proud of myself? Lulz). I’m making it a practice to celebrate even the tiniest achievement (one of my many NY resolutions, haha). Also, the top was gifted by my mum (side note: I haven’t seen the interiors of F21 since they opened a store in Manila, much less shop. Fact.) and, as you all know, the Jeffrey Campbell sandals are newly bought, brought back from Melbourne.

You’re meant to look at the messy line above the upper lash line, btw.
There was a slight drizzle of inspiration that succeeded the successful pairing: lining my eyes with the colour of dusk. It was like opening an umbrella in the colour of sunshine. I suddenly felt the urge to sing, “raindrops keep falling on my head, la-la-la” out of the top of my lungs. Dear MAC Fluidline in Rich Ground, can I keep you? Oh, wait — you’re already mine. <3
Plus eye makeup won’t be complete without doing your eyebrows, personally: Brow Definer in Warm, Laura Mercier.
I’m usually fine with just using eyeliners (it would take a stress-free couple of minutes more to apply gel liners, haha) but, as I said, I was inspired. Remind me to do a proper post on this particular eye makeup in the future. I’d love to show you folks a better photo.

Key things I considered while putting the outfit together were careful choice of hues; started with a high condensation of Grey, and worked towards a scattered shower of Brown, Gold and spin-offs. I chose the darkest shade for the bottom piece, in my case, the solid paneled body con skirt. This is a good break for my lighter hued cuffed batwing sleeve top (Taupe) and footwear (light Grey). Taupe paved a way for me to add Brown, Brown for Gold, and Gold for a few colour spin-offs, e.g. Bronze-y colours, etc.
Another fantastic accessory that will brighten up any outfit: a SMILE! Ah, the cheesiness of it. Lulz
That day was an ordinary day made extraordinary. I hope you were able to sift through my wordy post (HA, when has it been not wordy?) and walk away with a useful tip or two. That would mean reading past the preamble, btw.
Remember: find it in you to make your day amazing!
