Birthdays. An occasion that I choose to celebrate with flair. I try to think of things to do to mark it. It has to be memorable, meaningful and it doesn’t really have to be anything ostentatious. Come to think of it, I’m slowly wanting a more intimate, a little more private gathering. I reckon I just need an activity that will help me remember how a specific year passed.
Anyway, one birthday trumpery is my birthday outfit fixation. Well, though I admit that it’s a nonessential, I still include it as one of the things I do as a way to celebrate. This year, I’m wearing an asymmetrical-hemmed strapless dress in rich Burgundy, which I got from Miss Selfridge earlier this year. Yea, it’s not exactly a dress I bought for the occasion (not the first time I wore it, too) but wear it, I did.
I love the idea of planning what I’ll be wearing for the day’s activities; may it be a party, drinks at the pub or like in this year’s case (second time to celebrate my birthday in Australia): Lunch at the Citi Zen resto in the city, a trip to Waterfall Gully, after-movie drinks at The Warradale Hotel with the sis.
Keeping a varying itinerary for one day can be tricky. For obvious reasons, I had to switch from my Charles & Keith black strappy stilts to Aldo sandals when we got to the waterfalls (then put the stilts back on when it’s time to hit the cinemas and the pub). It would’ve made a better photo had I had them on. Ah, well. I still heart the mini-shoot my sister did for me. Special occasion, indeed. <3
Photoshoot inspiration: The Hobbit film. Lulz.
Well, when we saw this bit while walking around the place, the light and imagery captured our interest. Quickly decided to do my sartorial photoshoot with this particular scenery as the setting. I heart the contrast between myself and my surrounding’s rustic appeal.

35 years. And I still feel like I haven’t had my fill of what this life has to offer. Amazing, isn’t it?
How do you celebrate your birthday?
