Ballerina x Sneaker: Every Working Girl’s Dream

My six-thirty client messages me: “My boss and I are almost there.” while I was still inevitably stuck in Friday rush hour traffic several stop lights away. I would usually make a run for it but oh no, these shoes are gonna hurt. No other flat footwear in the car either. Great. Definitely not my favorite pickle to be in. Besides the fact that I HATE LATE, I hate having to rush in some pretty dress shoes.

Dear corporate world, can we all just get along and wear sneakers?

Apparently, yes we can. Sneakers sans the laces and, for once, is invited to join a casual after work meeting that might involve cake and some expensive tea without looking like I’m (literally) running to the gym right after? This could be the perfect compromise.

Sonya's Garden | Tagaytay, Doors, Stained Glass

The Fitflop DUÉ Launch held last weekend at Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay was just what I needed: a get-away from the city. The place did its reviews justice – it was a little piece of quiet heaven.

Sonya's Garden | The Borage | This Is The Perfect Bathroom | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

You should’ve seen our faces. As soon as the kind staff left us to our little haven, my friend Hannah and I ran around in circles like little kids. Our new shoes laid out on the bed with our names on it I could easily have been in that Sweet 16 show. And I mean c’mon, What. A. Room. For two people in that room I could’ve done a hundred egg rolls!

Sonya's Signature Massage | Sonya's Garden, Fitflop DUE Launch, Spa, Relaxation | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

Our afternoon agenda included a free treatment of our choice at the spa, a quick cooking demo of an easy vegan pasta recipe, followed by dinner at the launch proper. The Sonya’s Signature Body Massage was an easy decision. As with any spa service, there’s always something about the word signature that draws me. AND OH BOY, NO REGRETS THERE. I found out that Marlyn, my masseuse, has been working at Sonya’s for almost 7 years. No wonder. In that hour, I surrendered to be kneaded like dough to a baker. (Err. That’s what she said….)

Sunday
…is for coffee!
Fitflop DUE: Caffeine For Your Feet

Bag of Beans | Tagaytay, Coffee 101 | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

To keep up with the theme, the Fitflop team brought us to none other than Bag of Beans located along the highway. Known for their Alamid coffee, their signature (ahem) House Blend and Barako Coffee, as well as their yummy raisin bread (they bake their own!). As I am passionate about coffee, I felt that it was good to know the kinds of coffee they had (Robusta, Arabica, and Excelsa) and how this popular coffee shop makes it before I got all sleepy after that lunch buffet. Yay for free coffee samples!

Thank you to the Fitflop Team for organizing such a relaxing weekend, Sonyas Garden for making us feel at home (heaven?), and to Laira and Ms. Melody of Primer Group for taking such good care of us!
