Colour Crushing on Tangerine and Nectarine

Adding a kick to the somewhat even tenor of my fashion MO, I was surprisingly drawn to Pantone’s 2012 color of the yearTangerine (colour trend, eh?). I have to admit that as soon as the faculties of sight aided by the brain became recognizant of the colour’s piquancy, it was clear that I was going to add a few items to my wardrobe. I can accuse stockists of orchestrating the whole thing since I reckon I wouldn’t have thought of wearing Tangerine had I not seen lovely garments in that zesty colour displayed on their racks.

Inspiration drawn from an orange-flavoured KitKat, gift from a colleague who flew in from Japan, which added a citrus zing to a familiar chocolate snack. Nothing’s wrong with sticking with what’s comfortable. Same can be said of stretching one’s style compass — colours, in particular.

‘Twas practically crush-at-first-sight the moment I laid eyes on that Zara top back in August. I remember trying it on in a vain effort to convince myself that I shouldn’t buy it, haha. A lot of help it did, yea? I was primarily shopping for items I can wear to work. It was simple yet possesses a few details that makes it interesting (you have to see the whole of it). Add the fact that I believed it to be a good canvas for accessories, i.e. it presented a picturesque air not lacking in panache when I wore the Chick Flick necklace with it.

Oh, never mind that the colour (Tangerine) is on its way out of the trends chart. These things don’t last long anyway. Nectarine, however, is presently one of the colours that is on the fashion radar.

Cue in one of the pairs I bought at Aldo recently. What started out as a sizing concern, the colour choice turned my pouty lips into giggle-suppressed-grin. Again, the pumps was for the “work wear” objective (plus the concern I mentioned here).

As much as I’m crushing on the colours (I’ve got a few other colour crushes at moment), and all the items, I don’t plan to wear them together. I’ve worn them all styled into different outfits for a number of occasions. I’ll work on sharing some of them in future posts.

How about you? Which colour are you currently crushing on?
