There are things in life that’s difficult to explain. Opportunities come a-knockin’ in times when you least expect it and I’ve observed that that’s how things have been for the past few weeks. “Go with it!” As most of my good friends would tell me and I reckon it is much too fun not to. Of course, having a plan will always ensure a less stressful life but savouring tiny surprises will keep me on my toes and will add the necessary kick to the usual humdrum. Today is a good example. I wouldn’t have expected that I’d find myself getting picked up by a media van so early in the morning so I’d make it to a 6am call time for GMA 7′s Unang Hirit (airs Mondays through Fridays, 5am to 8:15am).
Believe it or not, I still see my guesting stints on TV as a novel adventure each time. Hey, these things are rare occurrences, that’s why! What can I say? I relish in moments wherein I find bits of happiness however minute or insignificant they seem to other people. Besides, ’twas doubly great since it served as an early outing-con-treat for my mum who’s celebrating her birthday this month, too! (Happy Birthday, Mum! Hope you had fun! Love you! xoxo <3 )
Take for example this bit, I like the idea that I started the new month in such an unprecedented way plus the fact that December also happens to be my birthday month!
So back to the reason why I was invited to be on Unang Hirit, it’s simply for a short segment on Holiday gift ideas since Christmas — the ultimate time for gift-giving — is just around the corner.
Folks from UH had decided to call me a shopping expert (but I’d like to think I’m just one of the many women who takes pleasure in shopping, haha!) and had allowed me to share a few ideas or suggestions on what to gift kids, from toddlers to teenagers, this Christmas.
Honestly, I love giving gifts! That’s why I didn’t mind sharing this on TV. I love the process of picking out things to give to my family and friends (don’t forget the inaanaks!), not only during Christmas, based on individual interests. Oh, they have to be prettily wrapped, too!
I tend to go overboard when it comes to wrappings. My bestie can attest to my flamboyantly-wrapped gifts to her daughter (that is, if she had noticed it, haha!). I can’t help it! This, perhaps, is a manifestation of repressed ideals but, bottomline, it’s all part of the creating a merry atmosphere! I believe folks ought to truly see gift-giving as a fun activity — a way of celebrating and thanking the other person.
With Unang Hirit hosts Susan Enriquez and Lyn Ching-Pascual
Before I leave you today, here’s a quick look on the style seen on a few of the hosts of GMA 7′s Unang Hirit (L-R): Lyn Ching-Pascual, Connie Sison, and Pia Archangel-Halili.
And a bit on what I wore this morning (see photos included in this post):
Shoes Charles & Keith
Earrings Adelaide Central Market
Rings Sportsgirl, People are People, Flea Market
I’d like to take this time to thank Janela of GMA for taking such good care of me. She made the whole ordeal comfortable that she had put the show (and GMA, too!) in such a positive light in my book. I wouldn’t mind or, in fact, would actually love the opportunity to work with them again.
Also, if you happen to have come to my blog via the show, welcome and do say hello! I’d love to hear from you and, yes, I’ll be highlighting some of the gift items (big thanks to Baby Talk by Iree for letting me pull out clothes at such short notice!) I had shared on the show in a later post. Cheers!
Have you finished with your Christmas shopping yet?
UPDATE! Here’s a video clip — recorded live in the studio — of the segment!
Thanks for recording and uploading this, Han! xoxo <3
