Say When! Tempting.. but no, thanks.

My social and work calendars were practically blank as soon as I got back so I knew I was free to pencil in any form of activity that I so wish. BUT the past few weeks have been crammed with people to meet and places to go that the rhythm that I was able to establish when I was in Oz had gone awry. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I love my friends and family for taking time off from their busy lives to welcome me back and the number of work-related opportunities that arose in such a short span of time from my arrival, not to mention, being able to watch Transformers 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, both in 3D no less. So yea, life back in Manila has been pretty eventful and cool — uh, I’m not referring to the weather, heh — so far.

That’s me with my bestie psyched to go scuba diving watch HP7.2 at the recently opened IMAX theatre in SM Southmall (Day 2, actually!).

Yes, one of the main things that pushes me to go out is the heat which would reach unbearable levels that the slightest touch will cause one permanently glued to me, gah. Call it escape-ism but I do like having the option to cool off while hanging out with great people. Pretty much like getting together with my oldest friends.

I truly appreciate them for making the effort to welcome me back home. I know I wasn’t away too long but my absence was sort of felt and it’s awesome that I’ve got these people who care enough to let me know that I was missed (to a certain degree, however minute, haha). I do love and appreciate it when my friends make plans to meet up with me (you know, the kind in which I don’t need to beg, pester or throw a tantrum before they give in), don’t you?

Folks who came were @mEldita and J, @iamcands, @rmoldez2 and @ireeomoldez. I <3 you folks!

Of course, I haven’t forgotten Tara who also made room to have drinks with me in Makati. Yet another place she has introduced me to and yes, I do heart the conversations we have. Also, there were days when I had to do a bit of work-related errands but some had turned out to be pleasantly surprising. One fantastic example is meeting a talented shoe designer, Joel Wijangco. His designs are available in SOLEA. Too bad there aren’t photos I can share.

Career Jam, Studio 23, Press | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

And then there’s the other thing about guesting on a new show that’ll air on Studio 23 called Career Jam, Career Soup segment.

Career Jam, Studio 23, Sasha Manuel in Styled Curls | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

Between wracking my brain for styling ideas and putting together the things (and people!) I need, I sat rigid when I realised that my hair was nowhere near TV-ready. So, kicking myself for not having gone to the hairdresser sooner, I settled for a bit of curls to make my mane a bit presentable (but stubborn as a mule, it didn’t stay as pretty as it initially looked, meh) that day.

Ladies, hold on to your knickers, that young man on my left is the host, Eri Neeman. I vote yes to eye candy, haha.

See what I mean? Some of my friends would say that I’d breeze through this sort of thing (since I’ve already appeared on telly a few times, I guess) but I’ll have you know that I still find it awkward. Sure, it’s fun and all but I know one thing will never change — I’d rather be writing and blogging than be on TV, haha.

Career Jam, Studio 23, Sasha Manuel, Eri Neeman | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle
Invited as the guest fashion blogger and stylist for the show’s segment topic on fashion in the BPO industry, together with other guests, Rocky and Gerard, both from TeleDevelopment, a BPO company.

You know how it is when something somehow magnifies your insecurities? Well, with me, I’ve never liked seeing myself on video. I’m cool with photos, yes, but videos? Uh, not if I can help it. But I guess, who am I to say no to a wonderful opportunity to share what I love (which is fashion) esp if it meant getting to help get a bit of information out there?

Career Jam, Studio 23, Sasha Manuel, Rocky Lim | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

Besides, if I turned this down, I would’ve missed the opportunity to meet new people like this lady from TeleDevelopment Services, Rocky Lim, who, I think, happens to be such a sweetheart. Hi, Rocky! I hope you don’t mind me picnapping a few photos from your album, haha. I’m happy that you appreciate Style Manila. I do hope I’d see you around here more often and let’s talk shoes!

Career Jam: Served With Bread N’ Butter
Studio 23
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, Saturdays

(In case you folks are interested to watch it, I think I’ll be on the 3rd episode which might air on 13 August 2011.)

Thea Perez | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

OF COURSE! I’m deeply indebted to my good friend Thea Perez for helping out and at the last minute, no less! I’m glad to have worked with her on this one, best model I’ve ever worked with EVAH (then again, I just might be a little bit biased since we’re friends, LOL) and driver (I kid!) for the day, haha. Darn coding, heh. I’m saying it again: SUPER thanks, T! (And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!)

Anyway, you’d think that things will be a bit mellow after that day but lo and behold –

Digital Perm, Beauty Brick Hair Art Studio | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street Style, Lifestyle

On the next day (yesterday), the planned visit to the hairdresser finally pushed through. Would’ve been fantastic if it went as originally planned (that I’d go get my hair done together with my bestie) but our schedules simply refuse to coincide. And after seeing my hair in curls the other day, it served as wind to my sail and the rest, as they say, is history. More on this coming up!

Well, I had hoped that dates will free up, however, the universe has something else in mind (since I do have a few more things planned in the coming weeks) or probably just waiting on me to say when. To stop, that is. Should I? I do like the idea that new discoveries await each day and though it may feel like things and events lack sense, soon, the universe will bring me to a destined level of consciousness, enough to get me to where I want to go. That’s why regardless of how much tempted I am, esp since the not knowing and the constant moving from point A to point B can be taxing, I won’t. It’s much too fun to ride the wild currents of fate than to take a sure-footed path to whatever desired end. The latter, though sensible, simply isn’t my cup of tea (still LOL-ing at the earlier version of this sentence. Had to edit it, out of propriety. LOL).

So, how have y’all been?
