When you consider the varying points where hemlines of skirts fall, you might think that options are a bit limited. I’ve observed how most women prefer if not minis (yes, even micro minis), it’d be maxi skirts or dresses esp since it’s quite the rage right now. However, though I do think both minis and maxis are fabulous, I can’t help but explore other options. Thinking back to the late 90s and early 2000, I was big on midi skirts, i.e. I own a tweed midi skirt and a bodycon midi with ruffled hem, because wearing them reminded me of 70s chic. Now, I’m bitten by the same bug which effected a recent purchase online.
It’s been almost a year since I last went shopping online simply because I’m not a huge fan of it. But when my friend, Jay, suggested I check out a website called ASOS which offers great deals on apparel, shoes and accessories, a few weeks ago, I decided to give it a go.
It was incredible! I had managed to find few of the items I’ve been looking for plus a couple more great finds. One of the things that made me place an order was the Free Shipping bit. I almost bought a pair of shoes on a different site but when I calculated everything plus the shipping, I knew it was value for money. Shipping fees were expensive! So I browsed the selection in ASOS for a couple of days before finalising my order.
I ended up buying four items: River Island 7/8th Trousers in Stone (USD$ 46.14, roughly around Php 1,948.00), Minkpink Storm Boy Printed Maxi Skirt in Grey (USD$ 27.70, roughly around Php 1,170.00), French Connection Deep V Knitted Dress in Black/Blue (USD$ 29.54, roughly around Php 1,247.00), and, of course, the Midi, ASOS Midi Stripe Knitted 2 in 1 Dress in Blue/Grey which only costs USD$ 36.93 (roughly around Php 1,559.00).

The only thing that nearly ruined my shopping experience with ASOS was the delay in delivery. On their site, it stated that it only takes 6 days to ship to Australia (around 11-12 days to the Philippines, btw) but mine took 9 business days. It annoyed me since it threw my schedule off a bit. Good thing, I was absolutely ecstatic about the items when I ripped the packages open. It made me forget (sort of) my annoyance. The items were of good quality and didn’t disappoint. You know how it is sometimes that you’d wonder if the item only looks great in photos and never in person? (This reminds me of a horrendous experience I had with one of those online stores on Facebook/Multiply that sells Japanese fashion clothes, which not only caused me to flare up because of the delayed delivery, the items were absolute blah quality as well.) I’m quite happy that I got to sample new fashion brands like River Island and MinkPink. Of course, who hasn’t heard of French Connection aka FCUK?
Most likely, I’ll get around to posting photos of the other items I bought when I get around to wearing them. For now, you might want to share with me what sort of skirt length you’re currently crushing on. Are you a fan of the mini, the maxi or the midi? Have you ever tried wearing midi skirts?
