Feather, Leather and Tassels

Sometimes, I wonder what goes through a woman’s head when the decision on which accessory to pair with what outfit she has planned for the day had to be made. I know of some who would go for earrings more than rings, necklaces over bracelets or a combination of a couple of these jewelry. But what moves them to a more definite choice is what I’m truly interested in esp with the countless options available in the market not to mention the varied tastes for every female.

From experience, in whatever piece of accessory I’d end up putting on, I’d usually try to make some form of statement. On top of having these accessories complete an outfit, they would sometimes have their own story to tell. I try not to stick to one type of accessory, an effort to build my collection which will allow me to experiment with a lot of different looks. And in each trip to Australia, I try to scout for interesting pieces to add to it. However, I’ve seen a pattern in the ones I’ve bought so far and they’ve been rings, e.g. Lovisa, Forever New and Sportsgirl, and, yes, necklaces as well. Apart from the sweetheart of a necklace I bought a month or two ago and the Annanova statement necklace, it’s all about neck pieces with feather, leather and tassle embellishments today.

Starting off with a casual piece that ties in the different elements: feather, leather and metal. Suitable for the more laid-back look. What I loved about it is that it’s practically wearable with anything, really. And it goes well with prairie, country or boho-inspired style.

Now, taking the feather element up several notches will give us this neck piece that can be a bit intimidating to wear. Loving the idea that it’ll be a great conversation piece when worn and it’s something one can actually wear with both a cocktail dress as well as a shirt and jeans outfit. Versatile accessories are great buys in my book.

Now, graduating from the usual fringe, I move on to a skirt of fringe — the tassel. Who would’ve thought that folks will ever consider wearing tassels around their necks? Well, these ornaments are no longer limited to gathering curtains and can now be found in various forms of fashion accessories. When I saw this piece, I knew I had to get it so I can give wearing it a go. It presented a too interesting an idea to let go. Folks also call this sort an armour necklace.

My choices are mainly defined by mood and there are moments wherein I give in to whimsical notions and playful dress-up activities. Now, what about you? What moves you to wear the accessories you wear?
