Woke up to good news that I’ve got a voucher that entitled me to a breakfast at Maze by Gordon Ramsay (thanks, sis!). You folks know who he is, yea? (hint: Masterchef America, haha) Good enough reason to wake up earlier than usual but it also means I’ll be sluggish (since we did get back rather late the previous night or should I say morning..?) hence dolling up so early in the day was least of my priorities, haha. Besides, I was just going to eat anyway. So I thought I’d go for a had-a-late-night-just-got-out-of-bed look and went on my way to the 1st level.

After my brekky, I decided to take a bit of a “breather” to plan the rest of my day so, with a cup of coffee, I stepped out on the balcony that’s still on the 1st level. The modern architecture of the hotel is pretty snazzy impressive, don’t you agree? It’s a great place to stay if you ever find yourself in Melbourne.

Ah, still can’t shake off my sleepy, sluggish feeling ESP after having eaten good food. PLUS mornings are mostly the coldest part of the day — not to mention that twas a rainy morning — and it’s not exactly helping my predicament. Makes me want to go back to my room and stay under the duvet. I was about to give in when I remembered that there’s a mall on that very level. Light bulb. I decided to kill a portion of my time checking out the shops there and wait till the temp gets to a more reasonable level.

And it did, of course, which perked me up a bit. I decided to up my look a bit and add a little French flavour to my look since I plan to take a stroll along the Southbank, by the Yarra River. I did eventually ditch my early morning messy look and opted for a more polished one. Kept my vintage blazer, jeans and flats, and changed into a plain loose shirt and topped it off with a printed scarf.

I wanted to keep the vintage feel to my look, mainly due to my vintage cord blazer from Levi Strauss, I decided to air out this gorgeous leather clutch I got from Witchery. It retailed for AUD$ 129.95 (roughly around Php 5,828.00).

I still can’t help but be amazed by how gorgeous this place is. Seeing how the setting sun cast a play of lights and shadows against structures and on the water, makes me wish that there’s a place where you can walk and enjoy both nature and city scape without fear of getting mugged back in Manila. Ah, well. Each country has it’s own unique beauty, I guess, haha.

Well, a good example can be that I know I enjoy driving on the skyway back home simply because I get to enjoy the Makati, Ortigas and BGC skylines. I esp love it at sunset.

But getting to walk underneath trees and right on the banks of a river is something foreign to me. And it’s something that plays on my heartstrings. Blame the romantic in me, heh. I’d like to imagine how it must feel like walking by the River Seine in Paris. Sigh. One day.

I appreciate how the old structures contrast the new. In my eyes, there’s beauty in what I saw. I love the edge and history it connotes. Thoughts on how something aged and time-ridden things thrive in an environment that’s continuously becoming more modern. It remains stoic against change. Can you imagine what sort of stories it holds?

One of the things that fascinates me is the street art. I’m not sure if folks back home can get away with doing this but I certainly hope city ordinances will provide some freedom for artists to express themselves this way. Cool way to earn an extra buck or two, me thinks.
Anyway, I had to cut my walk short since I had to get back to the hotel to get ready for my last night in Melbourne with my sister and her colleagues. As for the 3rd outfit, I forgot to take a snap but let me give you a quick rundown: kept my jeans (of course!), switched to my Topshop bomber jacket and Warehouse scarf, changed my top to a charcoal grey mesh knit from Topshop, and opted for height as I went for my Aldo peep-toe boots (linked to an outfit photo). I needed an more party-friendly outfit since that’s what I had planned on doing that night.
Whew. I ended up putting together 3 outfits using just a pair of jeans in one day. That’s a first for me, haha. Have you ever done something like this?
