Uh-oh, they’re all suede!
It wouldn’t have been a big deal had it been just the cold weather I have to deal with. Thing is, it’s also sometimes cold and wet. Ruin. That’s what’s going to happen to it esp without the protection thingie you spray on it. I guess, it only means I have to buy me a bottle. Sigh.
It’s quite baffling to realise that the current shoe selection that I have here with me in Australia are all suede. I didn’t really plan it. Well, at least, when I was deciding on which pairs I’ll thrown in my luggage, I didn’t really consider that they have got to be suede. The deciding factors were if the pair will go well with the clothes I’d planned on bringing and if I can wear them with socks or tights. It’s just a funny coincidence that the ones that qualified are all made of suede and yes, I only noticed it when I was making room for the new Windsor Smith pair I bought from Joanne Mercer last week.

This edgy Leaveland pair of black suede and leather ankle boots have been with me for a few months now. I got it from B Club in Alabang Town Center. I just remembered now that I haven’t blogged about this pair here in Style Manila. I guess, the purchase happened during the time that I was still recuperating from a stressful year and I had no energy to blog that much. Anyway, I like that it has a rock n’ roll-slash-glam-punk thing going. It’s a shame that it’s a real feet killer and, oh, did I mention the blisters? I brought it with me since I really don’t own that many pairs of boots or closed toe shoes, if you know what I mean. But I’m sure I’ll get around to wearing it somehow.

Next is this taupe suede peep-toe ankle boot that I also brought with me from home. I believe I already shared an outfit post with me wearing this beauty a few months back. And I did mention that I only bought it esp for this Oz trip. I’ve been checking out Aldo for a flat ankle boot but the one I had my heart set on getting was no longer available when I got around to buying it. Sad, really.
As for its price, I reckon I already mentioned it in that post.

Lastly, they call this black suede ankle wedge boot Craze but I’m christening her Charlie, a name to humour her androgynous appeal. Curiously, I was actually hunting for an edgy pair of flat ankle boots but when I stepped in the Jo Mercer store and saw Charlie among the Windsor Smith boots on display, I had to try her on. I’ve been lemming over this sort of boots as well, challenging myself to wear wedge design. She looked lovely and I adored the height she gave me. LOL.
The pair retails for AUD$ 189.99 (roughly around Php 8,521.00). Yes, this is the most expensive pair I own to date. It beat the price of the Aldo boots by a couple of thousand pesos. Gah.

Another thing I noticed is how they all have the zipper closure at the back (yes, even the Leaveland pair). I do appreciate it actually since it makes it easier to put on and take off. My new pair even has tassels attached to its zippers which breaks its somewhat monotonous look. That and the subtle panels, of course. Zippers, depending on how it’s incorporated in the entire shoe design, offers edge and texture to the style that I particularly appreciate right now.

So, there. All my footwear are suede (er, except the Crocs flats and the Havaianas flip-flops, that is). Yes, even Marie, the Suede Maryjane Platforms from Mango, is here in Australia, completing the shoe roster. Still wishing I’d find a pair of flat ankle boots, though.
P.S. Another funny thing I noticed about my shoe selection, I’ll only get to choose between wearing Taupe or Black shoes! LOL.
