One of the questions about makeup I often get revolves around eye shadow application. I do try to break it down for them if the situation allows it but, of course, as most of you who know how to put on eye makeup, it’s not that simple. Well, I never went to a formal school to learn it but I did it anyway. I’m no expert, tho. I just know the sort of technique that works and the usual advice I’d leave them is to practice. I’m certain after much experimentation, they’ll manage to develop a style that will suit them.
Today, I reckon it’d be great to share with you folks my current favourite eye makeup. Though I’ve been wearing the shade for a while now (give or take the past half year), I’ve recently turned it up with few of my recent Cover Girl makeup purchases.
If you’re wondering what shade I’ve been sporting, it’s along the lines of blue. And since my developing a colour crush on indigo dye, I’ve given the said shade a chance. I wasn’t too keen to wear it before, you see. Because I had an eye shadow cube from The Body Shop to work with, I reckoned it wouldn’t hurt to give it a go. It certainly was a wearable shade during daytime and looked fabulous after a few more layers at night.
I got me one of those liquid eye liners from CG, which was a bit tricky to use at the beginning but turned out quite nicely once you got the hang of it, which gave the old eye makeup a somewhat newer look. Let’s break down the makeup I wore last Friday when I went out to do the errands I mentioned in my last post.
Cover Stick, The Body Shop
Shimmer Cubes, The Body Shop
Line Exact Defining Eyeliner in Very Black, Cover Girl
Creamy Eye Pencil in Jet, Bobbi Brown
Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Pearl, Cover Girl
Yea, no foundation nor pressed powder for me; just moisturisers and SPF. Esp SPF! I think I already mentioned that I prefer a fuss-free skincare/makeup routine whenever I’m here in Australia. In addition, my skin tone is in a darker shade at the moment since I did go to Boracay before coming here and got my skin toasted there. LOL.
Anyway, my love for the shade made me want to share it with my sis so I went and got her one, a MAC Frost eye shadow in Deep Truth, as a birthday gift.
I actually want to keep this for myself (a sign that it’s a fantastic present — a hint of bragging there, haha) but I really wanted her to explore makeup so there. It didn’t hurt that I do recall her saying she’d like to wear blue eyeshadow when I did her makeup for our family’s photoshoot and I noticed that she frequently uses a bag my mum gave her recently which happens to be in that similar gorgeous shade of blue.
I’ll ask if I can use it one of these days just so I can blog about it. Or perhaps I’d buy myself one if I really can’t help it and would feel that I’ve got to have one. LOL.
Retails for AUD$33.00 (roughly around Php 1,480.00), btw.
As mentioned in my previous post, I met up with the birthday girl that afternoon at a pub located on King William Street called Bull & Bear.
I got to meet a few of her colleagues and had me a couple of beers.
I got to try a local brand, Hahn Super Dry and a very expensive pint of my favourite, Stella Artois. Naturally. Hehe. Good times.
