The idea came up when my lawyer friend, R, had inquired after a possible get together that I’ll be hosting. Of course, I was keen on all of us hanging out again, I immediately checked my calendar. When I realised that the day of hearts was coming up, I decided that it’d be fun if I (the remaining unmarried person in the group) ask them all out to be my dates. And that, in a nutshell, why I fondly call this gathering of friends, Be My Valentine Lunch. Hehe.
As we settled in our seats at Spiral in Sofitel Philippine Plaza, I was delighted to hear my friend say that it’s my day as if it’s my birthday. LOL. I’m so fortunate to have found friends like these people. I reckon that’s why we’ve stayed friends for the past 18 years. Yes, folks — we’ve all been friends since high school.

Let me quickly send out my love to the awesome folks that compose my high school barkada:
My best mate, Mel with her hubby, J.
The youngest (bunso) is the lovely Candice.
My lawyer (hahaha), Atty. R. Moldez II and his lawyer (and very pregnant wife), I. Orquiola-Moldez.
And, of course, the talented artist who did the caricatures, Jo Acierto with his wife, Lia.
Since I did mention that it was a lunch thing, let’s breeze through what sort of food briefly resided on my plates before retiring in my tummy.
No entrees for me. It’s medium-rare roast beef and an orgasmic grilled lamb chop with an assortment of steamed veggies and baked potatoes. And I enjoyed a variety of bread, slathered with pesto and butter. Oh, dear. Thinking about them makes me hungry. Gah.
Washed my lunch down with Spiral’s drink of the day: Cherry shake. To which I also stirred up the table with a raunchy pun. Good thing the kiddos didn’t have a clue what it meant. Bad, tita. LOL.
Desserts are well heart-ed and made me forget the presence of my dates. I fell madly in love with the panna cotta and that rich fudge chocolate.
We also enjoyed a bit of bubbly during dessert. We were all too caught up with conversations and such to actually take a photo. Hahaha! Champagne is the best way to commemorate a celebratory lunch, yes? Cheers to love, history, friendship and new beginnings.
Of course, this is a drink staple and is the prime choice to cap off the whole thing.
You know how it’s like when you come home from a really fantastic first date? Well, I sort of feel that way hence the early post! LOL. I’m so happy that my Valentine dates were these people and that we ended up at a place that’s sort of perfect for this sort of date. It’s my first attempt at celebrating this occasion after a very long time and it was all worth it.
Skipped the red ensemble and opted for neutrals with a pinch of romance with a lace and chiffon dress choice.
Necklace Lee Hwa Jewelry
Rings Mango, Flea Market
Watch Hand me down from my sis

Did I mention that I bought new shoes? I did. It’s more in preparation for travel plans, which explains the choice but I’m too excited to wear them to simply let them stay cooped up in the box. I got the pair for Php 6,495.00 from Aldo in Greenbelt 5.

The outfit was not orchestrated. Not entirely, anyway. Hehe. It just so happens that I wanted to air out the new dress I recently bought from Promod’s nice price rack also in Greenbelt 5. Original price was Php 2,695.00 but I only got for Php 995.00. I have to admit that wearing this dress while taking photos proved to be a LOT difficult. But like what they always say, if there’s a will, there’s a way and I couldn’t agree more.
What can I say? My Valentine’s this year has been filled with sweet memories thanks to my good friends. The day of love will cease to be a cheesy hallmark card from now on esp since they’re offering to make it an annual thing. Things can only get sweeter, don’t you agree?
How will you be celebrating Valentine’s this year? I hope the rest of you folks will experience the sweetest things on this day of love. ♥♥♥
