The new year looks unbelievably bright and promising. There were loads of things about 2010 that will remain especially memorable and dear to me which I will always cherish and be grateful for. Now, heading towards the direction that 2011 seems to be leading me, I’m staring at a long road of life-altering decisions (some have already occurred; some made with regret but I know I can’t stop them from happening) and a long list of events that I need to be sure I’m ready for. Thinking about all the possible outcome of everything is both scary and exciting!
Looking back to a few of the things that made the last month of 2010 (my birthday month no less!), one of the things that happened is the publication of this feature on the November-December 2010 issue of Money Sense Magazine in a special feature article entitled, “Top 10 for 2010″ written by its editor-in-chief, Heinz Bulos. Thanks for this, Heinz!
I saw the magazine (with Miriam Quiambao on the cover) on Christmas’ eve when the family went out for dinner at Alabang Town Center. Also mentioned in the feature are Style Cebu, Kaye Olfindo and UkayManila. Press mentions are things I’ll always be thankful for.
Speaking of Kaye, one of the major highlights of this particular holiday is the family reunion. No, Kaye is not part of my family but she did meet them. Hehe. Yes, family from Australia, US and my little brother who’s on a business trip in Canada, flew in to spend Christmas and New Year here in Manila and the special event was captured in stills through the efforts of her husband, Miguel Olfindo.
Since we all live in different parts of the world, coming together like this can be a bit tricky (not to mention expensive and taxing for those who’ll be traveling) so when I suggested that we schedule a special photoshoot to commemorate and record it, twas gladly welcomed and fully supported.
It’s quite moving to stare at this photo with all of us together. We all would’ve loved to have had this when our dad was around but I’m sure he’s happy that this happened anyway. This made me miss him a lot and made me realise just how much my family means to me. I wish we can do this every year.

Miguel and Kaye were kind enough to accommodate my request with such a short notice. I’m so grateful to this couple!
(The rest of the photos from the shoot will be available to family and friends on Flickr and Facebook shortly!)
Lastly, it’s the addition of the Polaroid PoGo in my photography arsenal. Yes, it’s my new toy! I’ve always wanted to own one for as long as I remember and, on the night of the last day of the month/year, I finally got the chance to bring one home after countless times spent peering over glass display cases all over the metro. And I immediately used it to document the turn of the year and the remaining days that the family had left to spend together. Love it!

Ah, yes. These are just some of the fantastic things that made my birthday month special and the year, utterly special. These highlights (all that was mentioned happened in December) were a great way to cap off 2010. I reckon it’s quite tough to top it!
Now, it’s your turn to name your own highlights of 2010. What are they?
Happy New Year, folks!
