It’s slowly becoming a happy tradition among my cousins and I to have a little fun whenever we congregate around the dead. I had introduced the idea back in 2008, asking folks to put on costumes for our annual visit to the cemetery (Manila Memorial Park) every 31st of October. Though it has to be said that we don’t need costumes to make things interesting, nay, exciting each year cuz if you’d come to know my family, you can bank on something very, VERY interesting to happen (think incidents which may or may not include cops, HAHAHA) whenever we do this semi-reunion of sorts. What can I say.. I belong to a wacky set of individuals that share a last name. LOL.
For the kids, we’d like them to come dressed up in adorable kids’ costumes. I reckon, it’d be okay since being young and cute they’d get away with it without causing raised eyebrows. As for the adults, we simply ask them to come in something costume-y. This year, it’s hats and masks.

I’ve always wanted a top hat. But I know very well it’s not the most practical accessory to have plus the fact that it’s quite difficult to find. But my recent trip to Greenbelt 5 lead me to spot this adorable top hat head piece which I couldn’t resist buying. My finding this one made the hard time I had searching for the hat I needed for this weekend well worth it. It was exactly what I was in the mood for. Hehe.

I’m not sure if I wanted to wear a mask but I reckon it couldn’t hurt to own one, just in case. This sequined mask was something I didn’t mind owning or wearing. Admittedly, it’s not too flattering worn but I loved the sequins. Maybe if I find a way to make it work, hair all in place and all, then maybe I’d get around to wearing it.

What’s great about these pieces is that I can actually put together an outfit and simply top it off with the hat (pardon the pun) or wear the mask. It gives off the idea that you’re instantly in a costume, joining in all the festivities of the occasion. It’s Hallow’s Eve folks. What’re your plans tonight? How are you spending Halloween? Are you dressing up this year?

I wish I could but I’m not so great at pulling off costumes! I end up being awkward but wow, that mask is so.. I dunno. Victorian.
Fab!
Thanks! Must be the sequins and it reminds you of masquerade parties that are so Victorian as well. Maybe you can do a “semi-costume” next year?
