MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural in Medium

13 November 2009 2,007 views 8 Comments

This was actually my first stop during that fated Tuesday shopping spree (see Shoe binge post). I’ve been putting my trip to a MAC counter for so long that when I did find myself in Glorietta, I just knew I’m not going to deny my need any longer.

I was in the market for a face powder and I’m curious if MAC had anything good for me to try. Of course, I know that MAC is a trusted cosmetics brand but the question on whether it will suit me (in terms of shade and consistency) is still on table.

I’ve experimented on a number of eye shadows from the Fafi collection to individual pots like the Gilded Ash and then there’s me dabbling in their Mineralize set: Eye shadow duo, Blush duo and now this: my very own MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural in Medium.

It’s quite interesting how beauty can create a friendly atmosphere. I’m thinking about this pretty lady who struck up a conversation with me when I was perusing the MAC Mineralize selection. I reckon sharing a mutual love for a certain brand (adding to that the fact that she raved about the very product I was looking into getting) makes it easier to talk to each other, stranger or not.

I’m actually surprised that it was suggested that I get it in this particular shade, Medium. Looking at it, I found it too light for my dark skin but I was delighted to discover that it actually does work well with my skin tone. Fascinating. I had initially thought that Medium Plus would suit me better but after careful comparison, a choice had to be made between Medium and Medium Plus in the end. Well, you know which one ended up in my shopping cart.

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural
Face Powder

A luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day.

Retails for Php 1,600.00 (roughly around $34).

Like a little kid with a new toy, I immediately took it for a spin the next day, hence, today’s FOTD post (er, technically, the photo taken last Wednesday but only got to blog about it today). I’m positively beaming cuz, personally, I happen to think it’s a good buy! I love its finish. I reckon it’ll work even better if I use the Mineralize SatinFinish foundation. And I’m sorely tempted to get the Mineralize SkinFinish as well. It has this high-frost metallic finish which can be used to highlight cheeks or brows or like how it’s described on the MAC site “an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face.” I like the idea that I’ll have more tools to differentiate each look I’ll create for myself. Ah, well. Let’s see if I can (not) control myself. Anyway, you’ll know either way. Heh.

Hi, Sasha! I’m currenly using the Nars Orgasm blush and since it’s about to run out, I’m thinking of the buying the Super Orgasm. Or would it be too much for day? I’m actually quite happy with the original one but if the Super Orgasm is better, then why not, right? My only concern is it might be too much for my skin tone. :)

hey kaye! how do you find the nars orgasm blush? are u fair skinned? i stay pretty tanned the whole year kase so i was wondering if orgasm would be any good because it looks really light?

  • liz said:

@kaye i have the super orgasm blush! you dont have to worry about it being too much since you can easily control the pigmentation. one swipe per cheek is all it takes to get a nice peachy pink blush. still, try it at the NARS counter. you dont want to blow 1350 for a blush you wont enjoy using!

anyhoots, sasha! i wanted to get this one too, but im just finding it too expensive for what is basically a face powder. i love MAC and all but im not sure if this is a necessary purchase since i have the MAC Blot.

how is the coverage and finish of this item though? is it matte, or with shimmers?

Kaye: I agree with Liz, if you don’t mind the gold flecks, it’s pretty much a safe shade for day with you skin tone and all. I’ll bring mine later so you can try it out when we see each other. :D

Liz: Coverage is light and is a good fix/setter for foundation, which is precisely why I bought it. It has a matte finish. End result is quite good. I want to get the Mineralize SkinFinish (now that one can serve as a highlighter) but they don’t have it in Glorietta.

@Cez: I’ve been using Nars Orgasm for years already, I’m a big fan. :) Yup, I’m fair skinned.

    @Liz: Hmmm . . . . sige nga I’ll try it hahhaha. :)

@Sasha: I only read this comment now!!! I forgot to ask you about Super Orgasm earlier hahah.

I know! I only remembered that I had meant to let you try the Super O when I left the Rockwell area na and was on my way back to the CBD. Talk about spacing out. Gah. Sorry about that!
