The Case of the Shoe Binge

12 November 2009 1,696 views 13 Comments

Twas a Tuesday. A bad day. For the first time in my life I actually took myself to see a doctor. I’m not too keen on the matter. It’s probably due to this thing of having been hospitalised for almost two (2) months when I was 7, countless trips for check ups, medical exams and visits and then, on top of that, a semi-recent experience which involved the ICU (no, I wasn’t the one who got admitted but someone real close). So, there. Need I say more?

Going back to my story, which is a long one BTW so I’m skipping the bit about the reason why I needed to go get myself checked and simply go straight to the binge — the shoe binge.

Aside from the trip to the hospital, I had suffered a disappointment the night before (er, technically twas dawn that same day, Tuesday) so when I woke up — even before I started to prep for work — I had decided I needed retail therapy. I needed my shoes.

I then dragged K to Glorietta and esp headed towards the direction where VNC was situated. I did mention that I heart-ed two (2) other pairs when I bought Almond last Friday start of the month, yes? Those are the shoes I call mine. LOL. Actually, I SO wanted to get the slouchy peep-toe bootie pair back then (Friday Sunday) but I knew it was the least practical choice so I ended up with Almond which I also love. BUT I guess I was meant to get it on a Tuesday, to achieve maximum effect in terms of therapy. Teh slouchy bootie was meant to ease away a bigger nuisance and in this case, make it two. LOL.

I knew that it was more practical to get it in black cuz that way it’ll be easier to wear with my existing wardrobe, however, K agrees with me that the one in Light Brown bests the other. Light Brown it is then.

Claim to fame (or not?) is that it slightly resembles a Steve Madden design (a combination of this, this and this perhaps?)

Retails at Php 2,670.00.

Anyway.

Moving on to the 2nd pair. I was tempted to go for another bootie but I knew I needed to put a bit of “practical” reason in my next choice. I knew I needed something in Black.

Did practicality fly out the window? True enough, it still IS black. At least I got that bit right. As for the rest of the practical reasons, best forgotten. Hehe.

I’ve always been fascinated with this sort of shoe design (see this)— the button detail, which I believe is military-inspired. Yes, I’ve seen it on other shoe brands with modifications of course. Anyway, I was a bit skeptical with the sling-back bit of the shoe design but when I tried it on, I found out that I didn’t mind it as much as I thought I would. It makes it less of a bootie and more of a heeled sandal-type. AND I’m absolutely loving the button detail!

There you go. Another shopping trip done in under an hour. Bagged a couple of new VNC shoes and something from MAC. Now, that’s a different story.

As promised (I teased K about wearing it straight from purchase), I wore my new black shoes to work the next day and all I had managed to put together was this look.

I have to admit it looked good when worn with jeans and I found a reason to wear my new Warehouse Tee. I have yet to wear the former with a dress and the latter as one.

So, there ‘ya go. Another t-shirt and jeans outfit.

Watch Hand me down from my sis

I was planning to include an FOTD but this post is long enough as it is so I’ll save that for next time. Now, when should I schedule that darn Spec 23 (among other things). Not really looking forward to starving myself for 12 hours. Heh.

I’m trying to stop myself from shopping so no visit to VNC (yet). Hehe. Must resist temptation!

Oh, I won’t be much help in that respect. Someone just told me that she’s shopping more than her usual ever since she’d met me. LOL. But as a show of support — Kaye, don’t go to VNC esp this weekend since it’s a sale weekend. Oh wait, that’s not helping much either, eh? Basketcase. Eeep.
