Dissecting the Ultimate Designer Wardrobe

12 November 2009 1,992 views One Comment

As promised in a previous post, we’re here to talk about the Designer Wardrobe which can be won in NESTLÉ FITNESSE’s Show off Your Shape promo.

I have to admit I had stared longingly at the pieces that form the Ultimate Wardrobe. In case you missed it, the wardrobe includes following pieces from local fashion designers and global designer brands: Rhett Eala, Religioso, Michi Calica, Kate Torralba, Jun Escario, Hermes, Chanel, and 7 for All Mankind. Personal favourites are the dresses from Kate Torralba and Chanel. Whoever wins this set should know that I’m downright filled with envy. Gah.

Let’s now move on to the fashion notes and style rationale from folks who helped pick out the prized wardrobe.

Manila’s Most Fashionable Pick the Ultimate Wardrobe

They set the trends, penalize fashion les faux pas and basically rule Manila ’s style scene with an iron — albeit manicured — hand. Yes, they’re the undisputed headliners of fashion– but did you ever stop to think of what the country’s top fashion editors and columnists would come up with if they were to assemble one wardrobe?

Yes, you got that right. They would come up with no less than the Ultimate Wardrobe.

But the Ultimate Wardrobe can’t be bought—and no, maxed out credit cards won’t cut it either—it can only be won in NESTLÉ FITNESSE’s Show off Your Shape promo.

14 days to Fashion and Fitness

The great Chanel czar Karl Lagerfeld said it himself: “Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight”. And with the NESTLÉ FITNESSE’s Show off Your Shape’s Ultimate Wardrobe, you and your friends can flaunt your health and fashion dedication to the envy of the metro’s style mavens.

With your team of 2-8 members committed to the 14-day NESTLÉ FITNESSE meal plan (coupled with a healthy exercise routine), inch your way towards winning that coveted designer wardrobe. Need inspiration in your quest for the perfect shape and style? Here’s a sneak peek at the Ultimate Wardrobe, as chosen by Audrey Carpio, Donna Cuna Pita, Bianca Consunji, Jenni Epperson, Joyce Fernandez, Rissa Mananquil, Pauline Juan and Isabel Roces:

High End with a Capital “H”

With its flagship Philippine store opening soon, Hermès is making a lot of buzz; given this, it’s no surprise that an Hermès belt made the cut to the Ultimate Wardrobe shortlist. “There’s no question as to what the H stands for when you see it on a belt. It’s simultaneously cheeky and brash, yet instantly adds a touch of class to your shirt-and-jeans outfit,” says Audrey Carpio. Joyce Fernandez agrees and says that an Hermès belt is ‘very versatile’ and can be used to cinch dresses or with slacks or denim. Meanwhile, Jenni Epperson sums it up nicely when she quips: “This signature accessory spells high-end with a capital H.”

Channeling an Icon

‘In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” – or so said Coco Chanel, the legendary woman behind the iconic Chanel brand.

And all 8 editors agree that ‘different’ will be the least of what the owner of the coveted Chanel dress will be once she wears the said piece. Bianca Consunji considers Chanel to be the ultimate symbol of luxury. “Chanel’s a classy, globally known brand that just shouts ‘status symbol.’ While Audrey Carpio considers it to be a right of passage for every fashionista: “A Chanel dress is not just a dress. Owning one is a sartorial rite of passage into the history of couture and a statement that says you are serious about fashion.”

From Fashionista to Fashionalista
Would you have thought of the Philippine map as fashionable? Maybe—if you were Rhett Eala, that is.

And it is exactly this unique ingenuity which elevated a Rhett Eala creation into the Ultimate Wardrobe. “He’s one of my favorite designers,” shares Rissa Mananquil. “He’s fashion’s big innovator, thinker and provocateur. Isabel Roces, on the other hand echoes the sentiments of Rissa. “Rhett has always been my favorite local designer. His style is feminine, elegant and comfortable. His designs are always a hit, as proven by his widely popular My Pilipinas shirt.”

From Weddings to Everything

Michi Calica guarantees the best fitted wedding dresses in the country, but as our top fashion mavens affirm, Michi Calica goes beyond weddings to everything else in between. “ Michi Calica’s clothes are sure to be noticed in any party. Her vibrant prints and bold colors lighten the room as well as your spirits,” observes Isabel Roces. Meanwhile, Pauline Juan notes that Michi’s “feminine frocks and are ode to Old World glamour but always with a modern touch.”

Aside from Michi Calica, Hermès, Rhett Eala and Michi Calica, other items included in the Ultimate Wardrobe come from Kate Torralba, Jun Escario, Religioso and 7 For All Mankind.

The Nestle Fitnesse 14 Days to Show off Your Shape will kick off on November 14, Saturday, from 9am, at Greenbelt Park, Makati, with the voting period lasting from Nov. 15 to Dec. 3. And as adjudged by Manila ’s top style icons, the winners of the Ultimate Wardrobe will be announced on December 10, 2009.
