I'm a midget at 5"3, so I really need all the extra inches I can get. However, my feet can only stand 2 to 3 inches of heels (nothing more, shame!) even when wearing corporate attire.

BTW I'm trying to save up for Cole Haan/Nike heels which, they claim, are pairs you can actually run in. Do you happen to have a pair Ms. Sasha?

Walking on cobbled stone is really difficult with high heels and bad for your shoes as well. When I first came to Europe and on my first day of job, I wore my 3-inch high heels to the office and came home with blisters on my feet and scratches on my shoes. I admire those European who can carry on wearing stilettos in these countries.

Sasha,

About the toes getting deformed, I think when you wear close-fitting shoes for a long time with heels. I've seen it on my MIL who's 82 right now and who still wears close shoes. My golly,it's not a pretty sight.

It really depends in the weather. Like today, it's raining so I'm wearing flats with my black slacks. And it still have that corporate style.
I can't stand stilletos kasi, pinupulikat ako and I always break the heels. dear me!
So when it calls for heels, I go for wedges, 1 to 2 inches is enough.

Hard to walk on cobbled streets in heels, true. On the toes getting deformed, I haven't heard that one before. Whoa. Is that verifiable information?

I'm a 100% flats girl. I always walk on cobbled streets most of the time so I rarely walk on heels. I believe in comfort first before fashion. Besides, using high heels most of the time can deform your toes in the long run.

That's quite a commute! How do you stand it? I have to agree that flats are more practical if you don't have your own car and will have to commute via public transpo. I actually bring a pair of flip-flops for cases wherein my feet need rest --- which usually happens at the end of the work day. Hehe. It's extra baggage (good thing they fit in my handbag) but I reckon it's better I have them with me, esp now that the weather's acting up, than suffer sore feet and legs when I get home.

Before I transferred to my new office in QC, I used to wear heels all the time. But since the commute is much farther now (I live in Paranaque) I've been wearing flats more often. I still prefer heels, though, cause I think it looks best with corporate attire, but I guess it's not practical for me to commute in them.

Wow, 5'8"! You'd be SO tall if you wear heels! I'm still trying out different ways to wear flats with work outfits and still end up looking not too casual. I'm used to wearing stilts so if I take away the heels in certain looks, I often feel, er, incomplete. Ah, well. I'm sure I'll somehow manage to strike a balance. :)
