Hair Pampered: Essensity Hydrating Treatment Plus A Trim

There has been a major change of pace in my life and the past week had been spent accommodating new things and people, adjusting to a new environment and re-incorporating myself into a world that I’ve left behind a good couple of years ago. Back in the grind, odd emotions, all good but like with every highly charged occurrence, I’m often in need of something to help me relax.

Scheduling a salon day with a new friend on the first day of a long weekend was a mighty good idea. So off I went to Basement Salon at Rockwell, Saturday morning to get a bit of hair pampering time. Best bit is that its all natural organicEssensity Colour and Essensity Care.

Sat down with Vangie of Top Style Marketing, distributors of Schwarzkopf, who introduced me to their latest hair products from the brand, Essensity, which prides itself for containing the purest organic essences. Though I’m no stranger to the concept and benefits, the idea of getting a natural organic treatment surely got me curious. The concept of Wellness all around is not something I’d take lightly.

Then met our stylist for the day, Basement’s Creative Director Freddie Schäfer, soon after.

After a quick consultation, Freddie dished out his recommendations for my friend and I. My friend will be getting the whole package of cut, colour and treatment and I simply will be getting the treatment plus a trim.

Details of my friend’s Essensity treatment:

Soft Permanent Full Head
Essensity Colour Autumn Leaf in Level 5
Medium, Php 2,600.00

Intense Curing Mask Treatment with Organic Goji Berry & Natural Argan Oil
Medium, Php 2,300.00

Freddie spent time carefully shaping my friend’s short hair. I love how it turned out. It suits her bone structure and natural hair growth. His shade recommendation worked well with his client’s preference and natural hair tone.

As for my own Essensity experience, you might get tired of looking at photos. Lol.

Since my current hair condition of having had it recently rebonded and coloured, Freddie said, when asked, that I have what you’d call a heavily stressed hair. He opted that I have it undergo a moisturising and hydrating treatment from Essensity.

What I had:
Hydrating Treatment with Organic Aloe Vera & Organic Olive Oil
Long, Php 2,800.00

It’s a combination of using the Essensity Moisturising Shampoo and Essensity Hydrating Paste. The former includes gentle scalp massage and scrub (intensity can depend on client preference) under lukewarm water. The latter is then carefully and thoroughly applied in partitions until full head is covered with the paste, after removing excess moisture.

The use of a Brushing Elixir (a conditioner) between the shampoo and the paste will depend on the state of the client’s hair but this is part of the Essensity Hydrating Treatment.

I love the fact that the scent itself is relaxing. It’s good to note that the products are in fact free from artificial fragrance and the scent is actually from the essences used in the formulation.

I have to say it here that I was raving on how ultra soft my hair was. It’s not your typical freshly conditioned and blow-dried hair but this soft, healthy hair. Not kidding. I was actually surprised myself. I certainly wasn’t expecting something that good. And the trim! Twas just a trim but it felt like Freddie gave my hair the cut in needs to reach its full potential, know what I mean? I’m not the one who’d freely compliment folks but I just knew I had to tell him how much I loved it.

I know it doesn’t appear to look anything different from the last cut but if you’re the sort who can be geeky about your hair, you’ll understand what I mean.

I guess what Freddie said in our conversation on hair care during the Essensity session made sense. There is a huge difference in using professional hair care products to commercial ones. I reckon I need to re-think using the ones I currently have in stock. Heh.

Anyway, big thanks to Schwarzkopf and Top Style Marketing for sponsoring this salon day; to my stylist Freddie Schäfer for his ultra skilled hands and fabulous eye and, of course, to Basement Salon’s Co-Owner and Founder Manfred Spiering (in photo below) for accommodating us on a busy, busy Saturday.
