Plaid Trend Goes Mainstream

8 September 2009 1,544 views 3 Comments

It’s been talked about at the end of the last quarter of 2008 and as expected the Plaid trend had gained a lot of traction beginning of 2009 and over the course of the past months have entered the mainstream. The fashionable public had took it on like how a dog is with a bone.

While I was killing time and waiting for the rain to subside at Starbucks in Santana Grove over the weekend, I spotted a couple of MMA (Multimedia Arts) students from DLSU-CSB at a nearby table sporting this very trend.

What’s cool about the Plaid trend is that it appeals to both sexes, which explains its stickiness. Some of my guys friends actually came up to me earlier this year, asking if I can tell them the places where it’s best to look for plaid shirts and I’ve spotted others in shirts, dresses, etc. And as you can see, Mappy opted for a bit of colour while Chienie went the standard black and white route. The latter reminded me of something I bought in Australia, partially seen worn here: Mirrors in Trains.

I was tempted to buy a plaid shirt myself when I was in Tiendesitas a couple of months ago but since I’m trying to control my shopping impulses, I had to choose between that and a maxi dress — opting for the latter.

What about you folks? Are you in on the Plaid trend, too? Any particular favourite plaid item? Anyway, for as long as it’s around, have fun with it!

Thanks Mappy and Chienie for letting me publish your photo!
