Earlier, I had dropped by the PROMOD store at Greenbelt 5 to pick up the outfit I’ll be wearing for tomorrow night’s event. Plans were a bit last minute but I’m glad things worked out. Initially, I thought I was all on my own but having to work through an approximately 100sq m of store space filled with tonnes of fabulous options, not to mention that I’m already pressed for time, a little help was greatly appreciated.

Enters PROMOD’s in-house stylist, Carla Abdon.

It’s my first time to work with a stylist, I have to admit, and the experience had reminded me of the benefits. Working with Carla highlighted a few key things I like in a stylist:

• She showed knowledge of the pieces available in the store, which helped in maximizing the outfit possibilities in PROMOD.
• She gave me ample options to choose from and the outfits were pretty much close to my sort of style.
• Her style suggestions had challenged me to stretch my own personal style repertoire.
• She had accommodated my inputs; making me feel that I was part of the creative process, which is something I really appreciated.
• She wasn’t pushy and had given honest opinions as we assembled the perfect outfit for me.

I actually loved the 80s inspired blazer and skirt combo but I was not too keen on wearing something that might be uncomfortable should the event be held in an al-fresco setting. Another favourite was a 20s inspired look which composed of a black dress and a gorgeous necklace, the necklace that I fell in love with, actually.

Two variations available, a simple classic look in black and a more intricate one in grey. I would’ve loved to have chosen an outfit that will let me wear one but I ended up with a dress I really can’t NOT wear. I’ll blog about it later.

Anyway, I love how the different elements work together to form one fashion accessory.
