Tech Candy: My Nokia 6700 Classic in Chrome
Last month, I was at the Ateneo GSB for a speaking engagement, a Publishing seminar organised by JCI Makati, and I found myself talking to a fellow speaker, Circuit Mag publisher and EIC JR Isaac, who had mentioned in passing how someone chooses his or her mobile phone show preferences which best epitomises his or her own lifestyle. Something I’ve briefly touched on years back when I did a poll on favourite accessories over at Tops II Bottoms, learning that a lot of individuals do consider mobile phones as a feather needed for effective peacock-ing.
Which now brings me to ask, if it’s true indeed that mobile phones are considered style accessories nowadays, which phone will you be sporting? Personally, what’s latest on my tech plate is the Nokia 6700 Classic.

This beauty just arrived on my doorstep today and I have to say I’m looking forward to getting to know my latest toy. I can’t believe that I have a new phone again (sans my mum asking why I’m getting new phones and such, heh). It was only August of last year did I get my Mr. E (a Nokia E71) and I’m still pretty much happy with it. I’m christening this Nokia 6700 Classic — Mr. Noki. Care to guess why? LOL.

Ah, yes. I love getting my gadgets in black (believe me, I actually did try to get this phone in black) but it came in Chrome. Hallo to perennial fingerprint wiping. Heh. But heck, it’s still a real beauty. And, like what Alexei said, it can double as a mirror. Hahaha! I wonder how an FOTD photo would look like if I use this phone’s camera to take it? If I found the time to tell you folks about the webcam bit, I’m certain I’d get around to doing this as well. Stay tuned for that!
Frankly, though I do weigh a phone’s aesthetic value in, I put a whole a lot more importance to usability and specs. One of the more important gadgets I need for my work is a mobile phone so it’s important for it to keep up with me and my needs. So far, what I’ve discovered about the 6700 Classic is it definitely tickles the photographer in me. Hallo! 5MP camera in a phone! It pushes off the need to buy myself a P&S, which was sort of part of my plans. I wanted a more portable camera so I can camwhore with friends. LMAO.
And since we’re on the topic of photos, it’s the sharing bit that makes taking it fun-ner, yes? Apart from updating Flickr, Multiply, Facebook, or blogging my photos — I’ll be keeping my OVI Account updated. I actually uploaded a few of the photos I took using Mr. E. Do you have an OVI account? Add me so we can share photos taken using our respective phones! Anyway, more on that later on.
The arrival of the Nokia 6700 Classic had given birth to new plans for Style Manila. It’s still in the initial planning stages but I’m working on it, double-time. I just wish this darn allergies will go away soon. I’ve pretty much had enough of all the itching and scary red spots on my skin. Gah. Anyway, I’m glad this phone came today. It made me smile.
Thanks to the folks from Nokia Philippines!

That one is indeed a beauty!!
I miss the simpleness of a Nokia phone!!!
Yes, it is. Style-wise, this phone takes the cake. Snazzy UI for the standard system but I still prefer e71′s Symbian. I do miss the non-QWERTY-slash-touchscreen sort of phones. LOL. Let’s keep things stylishly simple.
5MP in a stylish little package? Nice!
How much does it retail there in Pinas?
Isn’t it? Retails at Php 16,570.00 (according to a reliable source).
Hey Sash, congrats on your new babe. Lemme know how it goes, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten myself a Nokia. I’m partial to Samsung and Palm

Jean: I’m still tinkering with it and loving it so far. Been a Nokia-user but I used to own a RAZR simply for the reason that I wanted a clamshell phone. I switched back to Nokia (the e71) after a couple of years of slaving over the RAZR. Heh. Thanks, Jean!
Kenneth: The Nokia 6700 Classic is a handset designed to take over the mantle of the hugely popular Nokia 6300.

Nice phone! Makes me want to relive my Nokia days, but since I’ve decided to don a Sony Ericsson after losing my last Nokia baby, I think I’ll wait until next year to get another N. Why is it that paychecks don’t come as often as I’d like them to, anyway? Hahaha!
Anyway, I think that chrome one looks amazing. I wonder if they have that in another color. Gotta dash to SM to find out I guess. Ciao Ms. Sasha!
Thanks. As mentioned in the post, it’s also available in Black. There’s also Matte Steel.
Wow! Hi Sasha. You take the best photos. I take it that Nokia gave you this little wonder
Yes, I wouldn’t be esp thanking them in the post if they hadn’t. Thanks, I do my best to take good photos.
