The 6-Layer Lip Makeup Technique

25 March 2009 1,686 views 11 Comments

I met someone early this year who shared her little lip makeup technique that her friends tease her about it since it’s a little meticulous and fussy. Definitely uncommonly practiced, here take a look at the process:

Layer 1 - Concealer + Layer 2 - Powder + Layer 3 - Concealer + Layer 4 - Lip Liner (then fill it in) + Layer 5 - Powder + Layer 6 - Lip Liner (then fill it in)

Whew.

The finish is very solid and matte. But I’m sure it won’t be a problem if you add a little gloss onto it but I don’t know if the gloss stay on longer. But it’s just an idea — making it a 7-Layer Lip Makeup Technique!

She swears that this makeup technique assures her that the lip makeup will stay on regardless of how much you’ve eaten, drank, etc. Makeup’s still intact! I have to admit that I was impressed cuz I saw it myself. She had her lip makup on since that morning and I met her around 7-ish and it looks that she just had a retouch! Fantastic!

I’ll try to do an FOTD, trying this technique out. Yes, I still have to see it for myself, too! I want to know if it’ll really work and stay on for hours.

What about you folks? Do you have any makeup technique that you think is unique to you? Perhaps you have your own special way of keeping your lipstick on for hours. Would you like to share?

sounds like a great tip! but if I did this everytime I would probably use up my lippies in a month lol

I guess all you have to think about is how much of it you consume with re-touching. :-)

I tried this except for the lip liner (still haven’t bought the right shade) and it doesn’t last.

    Hahaha!

So I’m telling you all the lip liner is crucial!

p.s. Does it matter what kind of concealer I use? I’ve tried both Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and YSL Touche Eclat. Both haven’t worked.

How long did it last? How about the amount of concealer/powder/lipstick used? Personally, I reckon it shouldn’t matter what sort of concealer is used. I guess I need to try this technique out to effectively answer questions. Gah. I apologise.

It lasted for about 2-3 hours. :) Hehehe. I used a lot of concealer — kind of covered my whole lip with it. By the end of the 2-3 hours, the lipstick was pretty cracked. I think too much concealer dries out the lips.

Hope you can work on the technique and let us readers know the right amount to use and the right concealer.

    Thanks!!

p.s. Just bought a new lip liner. Yay!
