Havaianas asks, Are You Original?
In a world filled with echoes of the past, the task to stand out and be truly individual can be fretful, not to mention, highly taxing. But everyone seems to have that inner drive to try to give it a go — find something that can truly set you apart. Do something original. As a young English poet Edward Young had said, “We are all born originals..”
Original. It’s meaning often taken flippantly but actually carries a notable weight if truly considered.
What makes something original? How do we recognise an original? Are you original?

An invite from Havaianas Philippines, which arrived last week, brings me to ask these things. Come Wednesday, I’ll be getting answers as they’ve invited people to speak up and tell them what makes these folks original. It’s their effort to bring everyone together to make a stand for originality.

I reckon, to drive the point further in is this pair of Havaianas Originals in the box. Looks like a typical Spartan flip-flops, don’t you think? I guess it helps to let people remember how the initial pairs from the brand looked like when they first started; a way to celebrate their own originality.
Havaianas Original
Havaianas flip-flops were born in Brazil in 1962. Comfortable, simple, and colourful. They soon became the symbol of a joyful and easy-going lifestyle. Time has gone by, and Havaianas has traveled the world. To this day, over 3 billion pairs have been sold in over 65 countries. If all were lined up, they would go around the Earth 40 times.
These pairs of Havaianas - Original Style - an adaptation of the very first Havaianas sandals, launched in 1962, have never been so up-to-date. Because, since the beginning of this story, one thing has not changed; the most relaxing and joyful moments in life happen when you are wearing a pair of Havaianas.
I think that last bit is subjective. Moving on.

I appreciate the denim sack that came with it (I want a pair of jeans in that colour!). Added to the growing number of shopping sacks I can use. A small effort to contribute in saving the environment.
