Parvatti Vintage | Style Manila - Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Manila Street FashionIf you’re the type whose personal style can never be classified under mainstream then you’re one of us who would prefer to wear something that’s not going to be seen on someone else. Isn’t it a tad bit embarrassing to see yourself in a room with someone wearing the exact same thing? I’ve seen it happen. I’m sure twas uncomfortable for these ladies to see that they’re wearing the same dress.

This goes the same with accessories. While the chances of wearing the same costume jewelry or accessory are slim, I still like the idea that mine are somewhat special that’s probably why this particular discovery is such a huge treat for me.

Spotted PARVATTI while walking the aisles of the Christmas Carnivale Bazaar in Ayala Alabang. I was especially drawn to the idea that someone was selling vintage stuff. I absolutely love vintage fashion.

Meeting the owner Agnes or Egg was a bonus. She introduced me to her delightful vintage pieces. Yes, folks! Each piece has a story to tell. This is one of the things I love about vintage items. Hearing that a pearl choker is a 58 year old Parisian or that a charm bracelet is composed of both vintage charms and personal ones handcrafted into this huge chunk of a chain. It was pretty exciting!

If words aren’t enough, perhaps some photos can whet your appetite for some vintage accessories.

It’s quite funny when people get turned off in buying vintage stuff; saying “someone else wore it, eww” or looking for shiny silver or gold. Vintage IS old. You can expect a little imperfection; tarnishing and what not but that doesn’t mean there’s no value or beauty to it. I can vouch for its timeless appeal and adaptable style (ones I bought never fail to get compliments!) It’s all a matter of how you maintain the jewelry. You really have to take care of them as you would take care of your shoes (if you’re a shoe lover, that is).

Do visit Egg online over at PARVATTI. Browse through her collections, you’ll see the sort of magic that these pieces hold. They’re absolutely gorgeous! Oh, btw, she has vintage bags available, too!
