What came with the ARTISTRY™ invite to attend the opening ceremony of the 2008 Philippine Fashion Week was a loot bag(s!) that came with a few samples of their cosmetics. I reckon it’s a great opportunity to review the “official makeup” of this year’s fashion week.

First up is the Lip Colour Creme in Neutrale.

I hardly use lipstick nowadays cuz I love lip balms and glosses more. I guess I resort to lipsticks when I need more colour on my lips to match the rest of my makeup. And I’ve been using the Shu Uemura Rouge Crème if I’m in need of one. I love that tube!

Anyway, I’m picky with lipsticks. I’ve suffered skin breaks and chapping due to some brands I had used before, i.e. MAC and Revlon. This is probably the reason why I prefer lip balms or simple lip glosses, they’re milder on my skin.

The ARTISTRY™ Lip Colour Creme has a consistency similar that of the Shu Uemura lipstick. Very creamy. I liked it. It was quite easy to apply on my lips. It simply glided over my lips and felt as if I was putting on lotion or something. It didn’t make lips feel like their frozen (not with cold but with stiffness). Not sticky at all.

What I didn’t like was the scent. I simply didn’t like it. This is probably one reason why I’m quite hesitant to use it more often. I had only tried the tube twice (hoping that the scent will grow on me). According to my Artistry contact, the brand doesn’t use any fragrance on their products and that products being sold are esp formulated to suit the market, i.e. ones sold in Manila are suitable for Asian skin. I have yet to find a published material (with ARTISTRY™’s stamp of approval) that can support this statement.

The lipstick packaging is simple. Black and gold attracts an older market, though. The elegance, noting the shiny surface of the tube, it exudes has very mature feel to it. But I like that fact that it’s smaller than the usual-sized lipstick. Very handy, doesn’t take much space in your vanity kit.

The shade, Neutrale, is perfect for the nude look. Funny cuz I was toying with that idea, trying a nude look, I mean. I reckon this lipstick is a sign that I should, eh?

As for price, I’m still waiting on the price list. I hear they’re releasing the new catalog come June.

Final Thoughts

If you don’t mind the smell and if you can find a shade you’d want to try, by all means, give this a go. Though, I can’t really say that I believe that makeup IS skincare but any little bit that helps in not making things worse (or speeds up the process of aging or would totally ruin your skin) like ones that conditions and moisturises is worth a look.

Any of you ladies have tried the ARTISTRY™ Lip Colour Creme? Do share your thoughts. We’d love to hear and learn from your experience!
