Not that it really matters. I was just curious as to where you guys buy your pairs of Havaianas. I found it amusing that there is a shop that sells just flip-flops like the store all flip-flops, and they only sell the said brand. I have to admit that I’m still quite baffled as to why Havaianas are such a craze here in Manila. Yes, I’ve heard hundreds of testimonies to its comfort and style, but I still see them as pairs of rubber slippers priced outrageously high. Oh, the pains of commercialism. But kudos to Havaianas for establishing the brand. Our country is a perfect market for such vanity. We do boast miles and miles of coastlines with world-class beaches and an almost year-round beach weather. Flip-flops are so not seasonal. Hehe.
BUT, yes, my dear fashionistas. I do own a pair of Havs. Two to be exact. I recently bought them at the urging of a friend and my curiosity to see what the fuss is all about.

Why two pairs? Good question. One, cuz I couldn’t decide whether I should buy a solid one or a printed one so I bought one of each. Two, so that I can gather more data to accurately base my opinions on. Three, there’s no number three, actually. Hehe. I bought them for my trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. I needed a pair of slippers that look decent enough and wouldn’t take much room in the luggage like my crocs would.
Anyway, I know all flip-flops has branches in Trinoma, and Alabang Town Center, apart from the one in Bonifacio High Street (that’s where I bought my Havaianas, btw). What about you guys? Where do you buy your Havaianas? A store near you or online?

i always thought, can i cut a pair of Havaianas with a scissor the way i can cut all rubber slippers?
if yes, then i don’t see why i should spend a thousand bucks for them. a friend of mine said that when her dad went to the States, the bathroom slippers in the hotel he stayed in were Havaianas. oh vey!
but i suppose it’s a brand thing. however, i think this is sillier than most.
i reside in the us but i do find that havianas have staying power. unlike islanders or brands such as old navy they don’t retain foot odor and can pound the streets of nyc with the best of sneakers. i usually purchase my havianas on sale during the end of us summer (online or in store). i have quite a few pairs and at most have paid 7 US dollars. i usually bring them with me when i travel to the philippines.
Liz: I have to agree that it is grossly over-priced esp since it does look like your typical pair of rubber slippers. However, Havaianas isn’t the only one who have used brand to valuate a product, eh? In terms of comfort, I still prefer my old pair of un-branded rubber slippers that only costs Php 100.00 but when it comes to style, I reckon the Havs win.
Chica: Thanks for sharing the foot odour thingie! I reckon that’s one of the things I’ll have to see for myself. Sadly, Havs are rarely on sale here in Manila and are normally priced around $22 per pair.
I bought mine in Rustan’s to get more frequent shopper points! It’s funny how my almost 2 year old daughter is on her second pair of Havis already and I only bought mine out of sheer desperation — I really needed white slippers to go with my dresses and Havaianas had them with a two inch wedge heel. You’re right, they are over priced but for my daughter, I wanted to make sure to get her a comfy and durable pair. I’m happy with my own pair also, but I think shoes or sandals give more value for your money.
about the foot odor thing, i think that’s true. Also, I’ve had mine for over a year now and have been wearing them everywhere here in California(even in the winter) and I have to say they still look new. Mine were bought in Brazil and of course, they’re really cheap there. I’ve seen the new Spring/summer styles and they are nice- 22 bucks a pair but a lot of store have it on sale now. I should just buy you a pair here. Yes, I think for Havaianas, you’re mainly paying for the design.
Oh, another brand that doesn’t stink your feet are Melissa shoes/sandals. From Brazil too.
Kaye: Havs for toddlers! So cute! Your daughter’s lucky to have you as a mum!
Quick question, does Rustan’s have a wide selection of Havaianas? Is there any difference in price, let’s say, compared to all flip-flops?
Graziella: Yea, I keep hearing that Havaianas go on sale in the US — like most of the other brands. Even my brother kept telling me about great prices when you buy stuff at outlets and such. Gah. I wouldn’t mind buying Havs in Brazil. Gawd, I’d love to see Brazil!
Btw, melissa shoes are the ones that look like their made of plastic, right?
i only have 1 pair of havs since it really is overpriced! i got mine from an *all flip flops* outlet store in paseo de sta. rosa. although they dont really have the latest designs they still have a wide selection. i also noticed that *edition havs* (i.e. havs philippines) are still on their racks. and its also a bit cheaper from other *all flip flops*
Rustan’s have limited selection as compared to all flip-flops but I think the price is the same.
Ninyakin: I wonder which store carry their latest designs or the limited edition ones. I’m not even certain which ones are the ‘new arrivals’ LOL.
Kaye: I kinda’ figured that. I was planning to check Rustan’s in Alabang when I decided to buy Havaianas and give them as gifts but decided against it cuz I’d rather have a wider selection before me so I can make sure I’ll be getting my money’s worth (sort of).
greenbelt5. they got lotsa stocks there. :3
