Shoes, A Styling Suggestion

Wardrobe, Shoes, Fashion Accessories | Style Manila, Manila Fashion BlogI don’t think I haven’t met a girl who doesn’t like shoes. Perhaps they’re not attached to them as much as I am but still — LOL.

Someone told me that most girls if not all are shoe lovers. It’s just that not all are able to indulge in the whims of shoe shopping frenzy. Most are limited to buying shoes that are practical. I admit that I used to be like that. Especially during the time that it was my mom who had control on what items I can shop for. But fortunately, when I reached that point in my life when I can afford to shop on my own, I always find myself steering away from the conventional style and leaning more toward designs that matches my clothes and accessories, and ones that best express my personal style.

This brings me to think about how shoes affect my shopping habits.

Okay. Let me explain what I mean. Like what I said about using accessories to determine what kind of top or bottom you’d buy, I’m wondering if you also use shoes, too.

One pair that best illustrates my point is a pair of stilleto sandals I bought a couple of years ago. Yes. It’s still around and actively used. It has a blue-green colour. I bought it at Janilyn’s. You can check the entry I did on raiding my own closet if you want to see what it looks like. Moving on. My mom actually protested when I bought it because it was really expensive and yea, unconventional. She kept telling me that I was just wasting my money because it will not last that long. She thinks it’s a fad. Ah, well. I just told her to trust me. I’ll be able to use it. For sure. And use it, I did. LOL.

When I bought the pair, I had a few items in my wardrobe that I can use it with. But it paved a way for me to re-think my approach in choosing items to shop for. I bought a purse that I can use with it, tops and bottoms that I can use for outfits. It gave me a new look.

I guess what I’m driving at is that you can use a pair of shoes that you already own or one you plan to own, as a source of ideas for outfits. It can actually define your entire look. I believe that an outfit can turn from plain into something glamourous depending on the shoes you wear.

Repeating what I’ve already said before, try buying a pair of shoes, which you can build a look on. You’ll be surprised when you get to find out just how much outfits you can put together to re-invent yourself, creating a new you.

this post reminds me of my question before: which do you buy first, clothes or shoes?

They say shoes can make or break an outfit. That’s true. Nice shoes can perk up any outfit. We have a wide selection anyway, especially for those who dislike the strain of heels.

Whenever I dress up, the shoes is the last thing I put on, and the last to decide on. Next time, I’ll do reverse. ;)
