Capping Off the Taste Asia Event, Part Deux

27 August 2007 571 views 15 Comments

During the 2nd Taste Asia Event last Thursday, I came armed with my camera, with the intention of capturing style snippets of those bloggers in attendance. I was missing my muse and failed to be inspired by what I’ve seen or perhaps people just started going home early. Heh.

However, after seeing a couple of guys in hats upon arriving, it lit a light bulb. I’m featuring a bit of men’s fashion here at Style Manila and we’re looking at various hats or caps seen during the event.

AJ Matela | Taste Asia Event 2

AJ Matela of Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?

AJ and I talked more about hat fetishes and current stand of the Philippine society on wearing them, particularly by women. I enjoyed our small chat, together with Lauren, on shopping, local thrift shops (ukay-ukay!) and altering clothes. Yes, AJ and I share that commonality wherein the inner fashion designer in us comes out in certain items we’ve bought. Hehe.

Jayvee Fernandez | Taste Asia Event 2

Jayvee Fernandez of A Bugged Life

Jayvee is sporting the official b5media cap. One of the most common kind of hat that men wear, the baseball cap. It’s the sporty, casual kind.

TJ Cafuir | Taste Asia Event 2

TJ Cafuir of Half the World Away

One of the bolder looks is the Fedora type hat that TJ had on him. He had a Justin Timberlake-slash-Johnny Depp thing going (or so I’ve heard/read). I reckon it’s closer to a JT look since he lacks the dark, brooding aura, not to mention, a tad bit eccentric look that Johnny Depp is known for (sorry, TJ!). But I love the hat all the same.

I spotted a couple of more men in hats but failed to take a photo. They sporting a different kind of hat, too, that’s why I feel a bit bad for not being able to document the sighting. Sigh. Ah, well. If only people are a bit more approachable and less uptight then I’d be more than happy to feature them in my Style Sighting Series. Anyway, till next time!
