Style Manila on Five Fashion Trends

Style Manila, the blog on Manila fashion and Manila styleIf you step out and truly observe your surroundings, esp if you’re like me who like going out a lot, you’ll notice how styles change. One day you’d see a lot of women in shorts, or perhaps the height of chandelier earrings, or loose tops that drops on one shoulder then you’ll see a different trend.

Unlike some people who think that fashion is dictated by the “season”, my two cents are quite clear, here in our country, we don’t really follow any particular season. Sure, we do add layers and the like to adapt to weather changes but it can’t be compared to the season changes that fashion in other countries seem to adapt.

Here are some of the fashion trends I’ve observed:

1. Bangles

Bangles, Glitters & Polka DotsYes. Admit it, bangles are everywhere. I’ve seen a lot of sellers (both online and off) selling the fun accessory. It’s a chance to re-invent the art of accessorising minus the danger of the 80s fashion mistake of going overboard. LOL. But like I said, I have yet to see it on arms (all I need is a photo of you wearing it, you know).

2. Peep-toe & Flats

At the beginning of the year, I’ve already told you guys about Pumps, Patents, Flats are becoming all the rage and now I’m adding the fact that peep-toe shoes are bursting into the scene, from flats to stilettos. See number 4 for my thoughts on Patent.

3. Tunics & Dresses

Do I really have to explain it? Apart from the fact that you can actually see them left and right, there’s an extensive variety to choose from. Tunics are so versatile that it’s worn with jeans for a casual look to leggings for a more chic look. Dresses are worn in a variety of ways, too. I’ve seen it on women sporting it in the flirty, feminine to the posh, sophisticated style.

I still remember my patent square-toe heeled mary janes back in 2000 (it’s also the time when printed socks were in style, hehe), which is still alive but sitting quietly in its box. Who would think that patent will flourish once more? Now, you can see it on bags and shoes. As for Polka-dots, it’s quite obvious since I’m sure you’ve seen at least one lady wearing either a top or a dress, right? Hehe.

This is one trend that’s trickling in. I bet most of you aren’t really aware of it yet but yes, dear fashionistas, it’s quite a treat for all of you who simply love accessorising. Earrings are my first love when it comes to accessories. And these beauties will soon abound in my trinket box (I already have two and one more incoming, hehe).

Over-all, I reckon there’s an abundance of accessories. I’m quite glad that women in our country are now becoming more fashion forward by the minute. Yay! Like what my bestfriend said, she just came back from the US, “why do people from other countries think that our country is behind in fashion?” Yes, just take a good look around and you’ll see how the country is seemingly over-run by fashion options and fashionistas. LOL. Manila fashion is quite flourishing, wouldn’t you say?

What about you? Do you notice any upcoming trend?
