Introducing the Blogger Bag by Timbuk2

gorman-johnson_bag4_f.jpgSeriously. It’s a bag made with bloggers in mind and it’s from San Francisco-native brand, Timbuk2. They’re known for their messenger bags originally called Scumbags. Founder Rob Honeycutt says the new brand was inspired by the legendary African city, Timbuktu and a popular US indie band, Timbuk3.

How do I know this? Well, I simply came from a small get-together organised by GeiserMaclang, BratPack and Timbuk2 especially for bloggers last night at T.G.I. Friday’s Glorietta 3 in Makati. It’s simply to let us know all know that Timbuk2 and the Blogger Bag are now here in Manila.

The Blogger Bag is the latest addition to Timbuk2’s computer bag collection. With distinct features like a 360° padded laptop protection and vertical compact size make it suitable for a blogger lifestyle that’s mobile and, yes, wireless.

Believe it or not, I’m one of them people who’d use a bag like this one. I’ve been eyeing a Crumpler myself but I guess I’ve got more options now. I reckon urban lifestyle bags are primarily geeky in nature, however, seen in a different light or angle, they can be pretty stylish. You simply have got to check out the Blogger Bag that’s been customised by Team Manila. It sure is a promising start for the brand, that bit on adding local flavour to it.

I like the fact that it maximised the space, just check out how many pockets and holders it has — pens, iPod/any mp3 player, mobile phone, pads, books, etc. and there’s even that thingie that holds keys (something I ought to have, seriously) And, not to mention, the corduroy lining!

I like the signature three-panel design and their use of ballistic nylon. It claims to be indestructible (that’s yet to be tested, hehehe) and, of course, water-resistant — something really important here in this country.

Brand Manager Jose Tañada was clear and thorough about the bag’s features and benefits. It helped paint a picture of how their brand fits our lifestyle here in the metro. Well, at least, I can see where it can stand when it comes to Manila fashion. I totally dig the cosmo-slash-urban style we currently have got going, which, me thinks, the bag will fit in quite nicely.

The Blogger Bag is priced at Php 5,390.00, available at Bonifacio High Street.

Ooooh. Nice bag. A bit on the thick side though.

Are there any other nice laptop-friendly bags aside from the Crumpler? I’ve been wanting a knapsack-style bag so that I can also use it to pack my clothes, in case of trips. :) But maybe this Blogger Bag’s messenger-bag style is more appropriate.

Oh, no worries. It’s not as big as it looks on the photo. Surprisingly, the depth is only 7″ so it’s not that bulky. Though, it’ll prove to be a challenge for people who own anything larger than 15.5″ x 10.25″ x 1.75″ dimensions for a laptop. :)

May ginintuang value ito based on the price. but then again, it’s Timbuk2 so it sure is worth it (even though it costs only $80 in the US, hehe!). I got a PR invite from GeiserMaclang for tonight’s (friday) launch, not sure if that’s the same event though. hehe

Where in Bonifacio High Street? Is there a Bratpack branch there?

Brian, BratPack’s Brand Manager, said they’re quite near the corner where Puma is. B:8 perhaps? Don’t quote me on that, though. I’ll let you know once I do get to visit the place. :D

Hi, Marc! Crumpler just happened to be the first brand I’ve encountered that offered urban lifestyle laptop bags and not to mention Rico owns one. That’s me, I guess. But like I said, Timbuk2 is now another option. :D

The one in Bonifacio High Street isn’t open yet. I apologise for the confusion. I believe that it’s available at PowerMac and stores that carry the BratPack brand. :)
