The Belted Look
By Sasha Manuel
I’ve talked about experimenting with different looks simply because I’m a firm believer that people should have fun in all things fashion and styling. Though, I won’t go as far as encouraging total fashion freedom to the point that screams, “Victim!!!” but rather I’d have you play it within the bounds of reality and, of course, influence.
Not everyone can pull off certain looks but I’m quite certain that given an opportunity to try something out until you find some sort of balance, you’d get something right. Er, well, I hope. I guess that’s where heeding a little tip here and there will work wonders for your personal style.
The Belted Look is a tried and tested fashion statement. A product of the late 50s wherein women put emphasis on their narrow waists and full skirts and the 70s glammed the look up, making it more than just a typical housewife get up, instead, a definite fashionista look.
This time around, the belt has taken the shape of numerous influences. It can be used in Mod outfits and even alter the look of dresses. Cinched at the waist, creating a high-waist look, is the more popular way of wearing it nowadays.
Give it a go and let me know how it works out for you.

[...] you know that there’s an upward trend on the high-waist look. It may have started with the belted look but now the look is extended to items such as dresses and bottoms like this High Waisted Drainpipe [...]
Great finds! You have to take me shopping soon!
I usually wear belts when my top is kind of loose. I cinch it on my waist to create an hourglass shape.
BTW The belted empire dress you featured is LOVE. It’s in the perfect color and length! Pag napagsawaan mo na yun Ms. Sasha, I’d gladly ask for it. Haha!
I finally decided to buy a red belt for my simple black spandex top and it really looked different when I put it on.I’m planning to buy some more belts
