Dresses: A Love Affair

12 July 2007 4,066 views 25 Comments

Sasha Manuel | Strapless Ruched Dress in BlackIndeed, it’s a glorious love affair that I’m having with the dresses that seem to increasingly occupy my wardrobe space.

Apart from the ones I’m featuring here, I’ve got a few more stashed away. I simply love dresses. I do. They’re so easy to style and fits almost every event that I go to — from casual hanging out with girlfriends and clubbing to business meetings and press events. I find dresses so reliable!

Strapless Ruched Dress in Black with a tie-belt accent
The all-black theme of the dress gives it the elegance that I’d need for more formal events or posh places I’d find myself going to. The ruched effect adds a touch of texture to an otherwise plain garment. The tie-belt accentuates the waist, making the full skirt puff out a little, hence, creating shape. I need it since I have a waif-ish frame.

Price is at Php 700.00, Red Lane, 3rd Level Glorietta

Let’s now move on to three other dresses that are recent additions to my growing collection.

Polka Dot Brown Dress Purple Floral Empire Dress by Lhasa Tan & Brown Stripe Shirt Dress

Polka Dot Brown Dress
I’ve been looking into owning a polka dot for quite sometime and it was by chance did I find this adorable dress. I was only hoping for a top actually but who’s complaining? Hehe. The hem falls slightly above the knee and there’s a notable plunge in the v-neckline. It looks good when worn alone but it turns chic when accessorised with a wide belt. I love wearing it in casual to semi-formal occasions like wearing it to the Beauty & Minerals Day and to a dinner party of friend in San Juan.

Price is at Php 700.00, Red Lane, 3rd Level Glorietta

Purple Floral Empire Dress
This is one of my best dress finds to date. I’m not the Purple-wearing sort but I fell in love with the colour anyway. It’s so feminine. So pretty. One “feature” of the dress that I find interesting is that you can alter it a bit to create a different shape or how the hem drops with the use of the strings underneath. You can up the hemline and turn it into an extended (but puffy) top or tunic. Flexible, don’t you agree? LOL. I worn the dress during our BBN Lunch last month.

Price is at Php 1,200.00, Lhasa, 3rd Level Glorietta

Tan & Brown Stripe Jersey Dress
On a whim, I bought this one because I like its earthy (because of the hues), nautical (because of the stripes) look. I love the laid-back feel of the dress. Looking at it, I immediately pictured wearing it with flip-flops or flats. It’ll look great with leggings, too. If only I can find one that fits me. Gah. But that story’s reserved for another day me thinks. LOL. I’ve worn this one when I went on a walk around Intramuros and on a day spent chilling with teh boyfriend. Heehee.

Price is at Php 550.00, Ruins, BF Homes ParaƱaque

Yes. I found most of these dresses at a tiangge. I do love designer labels as much as the next fashionista. Gawd. I’ve been drooling over this gorgeous long dress at Mango but I knew I had to be practical. It’s just that I’m also a firm believer that you don’t have to spend (too) much to look fabulous, you see. I reckon the saying, “the more, the merrier” applies here. Hehe.

What about you? Would you consider a love affair with dresses?

[...] First one is a black polka-dot dress with red accents. GORGEOUS! Only $39.00. Next in the picture is a magenta/purple, which I call plum color Emmeline Top. The minute I saw this color and the embroidered detail around the neck I was hooked. I just LOVE that color. It’s a reminiscent to the plum halter-tube eyelet dress that I will be writing about soon . This top is $24.80. 3rd one is a black nautical tube tunic bubble top for $19.80. It reminds me of Sasha’s brown jersey dress. [...]
