Style Tip: Don’t Overdo the Belt!

24 February 2007 279 views 4 Comments

Manila styleI’ve been noticing the belt on a lot of women lately. It’s great! It’s fabulous! It’s chic! It’s trendy.

Until you see it on an outfit that’s simply… wrong. Ugh.

One thing I’ve learned along the way, when it comes to styling, moderation is key to preventing a fashion faux pas. You’ve got to make the outfit highlight your natural look and personality, NOT make it the highlight of your look and somehow throws off your personality (seemingly makes you look awkward and trying a tad bit too hard). Heh.

When you accessorise using the belt, tone the top down a bit — either the colour, fit, or print. Imagine this. You’re showcasing the belt or the look of the top with the belt without looking like a cluttered, clueless fashionista-wannabe. Catch my drift?

Somehow, I got that. Although I admit, my belt and top usually compete for attention. Haha! I’ll take my lesson from this.

I only use big belts on plain top and it’s perfect for me.
