Layering, A Styling Suggestion

leave a response

One of the things that most women would say whenever they face their wardrobe is, “I don’t have anything to wear!” Funny… we say that even when the closet is full of clothes! We can never have enough clothes now, can we? Tee hee.

Have you ever thought about layering? I’m sure most have done it somehow but are not always certain whether they should or not. Well, fear no further! It’s perfectly alright to do so! This particular suggestion won’t work for everyone because I can understand that a number of styling mentalities of some are mainly influenced by the climate of the country. I should know, having grown up in a warm tropical climate, I never really thought of layering clothes. It’s too damn hot!

Now, I’ve discovered the joy of it. It’s a good way of rotating pieces to come up with a totally new look. One great tip I got from my sister is to dress from warm to cold. This basically means you’d put on items you’d wear on a warm weather on the inside then just put on 2 or 3 more items that will help you deal with the colder weather and this excludes the coat that you might wear if it’s really cold.

If you have a good sense of style, you’d be able to figure out what items go well with each other as you layer them. So, you will find out that there are numerous ways on how you can go about this thing. I sure did. Hehehe.

Here are some examples on how layering works:
Manila style

    Simple
As seen in the photo, just throw on a cropped sweater over a simple stretch cami. It creates a different look, right? If it’s chilly out, then you’re shielded from the cold but if the weather gets warmer or should you decide to catch a bit of tanning time, you can take the sweater off. With or without the second layer, you’ve somehow created a unified look, which really works.

    Items of note:

  • BP Stretch Camisole
  • Frenchi Cropped Turtleneck

    Complex
Also in the photos, wearing several layers of tops plus a jacket or coat can definitely give a typical look a different flavor unlike if only a single top were used at a time. I know that the more layer you add on the more you may end up uncomfortable with how you might look like but hey, it’s a lot more fun that way. There is no harm in trying! Just like I said earlier, you’ll soon figure it out.

    Items of note:

  • Nick & Mo Jacket
  • White Long-sleeved Round-neck Shirt
  • Gray Camisole
  • Necessary Objects One Button Jacket
  • Brown Long-sleeved Turtleneck Shirt
  • Dark Brown Camisole

Another great thing about layering is that you can start rummaging through your old clothes and start airing them out since you can mix and match them to what can be considered fashionable once again. See? You don’t need to spend in order for you to have something new to wear! Hahaha.
